The Awesome Videos Thread (with Extra Sauce!)

Some people won't get that. To them, a moment is an archaic measure of time equal to 1/12 of a minute, or about 7.5 seconds.
Other people will get that, and for them, each moment will be the starting point for a chain reaction of an infinite number of lifetimes.

I like RadioLab even more now.

That is really cool. I can imagine one way that it would work, but I'm interested to see how they implemented it mechanically. You have to supply a specific vibrating pattern to the squeegee part while it's extending and retracting, so it's having two different motions at the same time. I wonder if they're using a single motor or two, and what the gear train looks like.
To me it looks like it's a non-stick conveyor belt. As the "spatula" slides forward, the non-stick belt gets pulled back at the same rate, so it's almost like laying out the surface underneath whatever you're picking up. I'm at a loss as to what the hell they've made the surface out of that nothing sticks to it, though.

Use one machine to "paint" a picture with dough, then use this to deposit the picture into the fryer without changing it. I'm thinking awesome elephant ears.
Damn, that would be awesome. Heck, set up multi-colored dispensers for the batter, and you could print out edible art.
