[Movies] The DC Cinematic Universe - The David Zazlav Dumpster Fire.

I just assumed he was hiding it, and as all humans before him, he was putting one of the most destructive items in all the universe into a hole two feet deep.
As funny as this is, it was the last Mother Box that it took Steppenwolf to find. Maybe having giant temples with tons of soldiers isn't the most stealthy approach to hiding powerful artifacts.

It still is pretty funny though.

Like take a cue from Venture Bros, where the ORB sat in plain sight on a shelf in a not-particularly-private office in a second-string art museum (meaning no insult to the Frick collection) being used as a paperweight.

You know, even watching the Snyder Cut, I still don't get why the Atlanteans were hiding the Mother Box with only a few soldiers somewhere in the middle of nowhere. After watching Aquaman, we find out that Atlantis itself is a giant techno-city with massive cannons lining the perimeter that makes it almost impossible to siege. Yes, Steppenwolf had boom tubes that let him basically cheat code to wherever he needed to go, but the Atlanteans didn't know that.

There's a line that mentions whoever the acting king is has purposefully undermanned the position

Yes, but my point is, it shouldn't have been in that position to need to be manned. Even just putting it in some sort of vault in a secure location would be better then a temple possibly hundreds of miles from your most fortified stronghold.

Actually, the more I even think about it, why were none of these even locked up? Like the Atlantean Temple didn't even have any doors and the Amazon Temple has a friggin SKYLIGHT for him to boom tube right through.

You gotta give the villain a sporting chance.

I think a bigger question is how did Darkseid forget where Earth is?

At times it felt like Mark Strong was in a different movie, but, over-all, I enjoyed Shazam! more than a lot of the Nu-DC movies.

I liked Shazam a lot, though there were a few maybe too dark moments that makes it less kid friendly (the slaughter of the corporate partners, for example). And I feel, if any property should be super kid approachable, it's Shazam.

Still, I'm definitely curious to see what they do with this one now that they have the origin out of the way.

I'm just hoping that the movie will inspire DC to give the Shazam family their own book again, rather than limbo-ing everyone in the family sans Billy, and sticking Batson in the background of Teen Titans Academy.

I will admit ignorance of the status of the big Kaboomies *Heroic Strong Folk or Blasters* in the DCU as far as magic goes, but *and happily to be corrected* Billy *had?* to take up the title of the wizard?
It's been awhile. Billy should always be the Big Red Cheese, and for once, should wield Solomon's Wisdom to put somebody else on the Wizard's Throne, understanding if they break the throne, he can pull them off it and pummel them with it, and find another worthy.

p.s. As an aside, because he's one of my favorite characters when it comes to DC magic, The general terror that John Constantine can inspire on a lot the DC Magic *depending on the story* has always been a fun thing for me.

I need to. SHAZAM! was the first comic book I started reading as a little kid.
It's worth it. Despite some tonal issues that Nick brought up (it's definitely WAY to graphic at one or two points), this movie gave me everything I wanted in the movie -and more-. If you can't find it on streaming, I know it's started airing on TNT in the US.

The Suicide Squad was good, violent fun. I wouldn't say it was Gunn's best film, but it was head-and-shoulders above Ayer's movie*. The soundtrack is pretty solid, as per Gunn's usual. Gunn once again shows he is so good with ensembles and giving each character a distinct personality without letting the the film drag or focusing too much on one character. He also did a far superior job with Harley Quinn compared to Ayer (no surprise there).

It's funny having Peter Capaldi there, because once Starro starts wreaking havoc, he reminds me of a few Dr. Who villains/aliens. I wish they also hadn't allowed interviews with John Cena to reveal they wanted to make an additional Peacemaker film. It ruined the impact of the stinger.

(*I know Ayer has been bitching lately that the studio interfered and he didn't get to make the film he wanted, but some of the worst parts of Suicide Squad were clearly choices Ayer made, and no amount of re-editing could change that. Frankly, he doesn't have a great track-record to back up that claim.)
