[Movies] The DC Cinematic Universe - The David Zazlav Dumpster Fire.

That's part of the point. He's a 20 something selfish brat, basically... something many people go through in their lives. In the movie adaptation, he even discovers that Nega-Scott is actually a nice guy.

But, I could be biased, because Scott Pilgrim vs The World is one of my favorite movies. And the comic series isn't bad, either.
Oh I know, I'm just saying it's easy to write off the character at first due to the kind of guy he starts the movie as.

Ah, misunderstood, then![DOUBLEPOST=1462137860,1462137809][/DOUBLEPOST]
He's great by the end. The movie is a lot smarter than it pretends to be, which is weird.

It's a niche film. I showed it to a group of friends and none of them liked it. They didn't dislike it exactly; they were just put off by the whole experience. For me, it was my favorite movie from that year and I love watching it.
Any time I discover a friend hasn't seen it, I'm more than happy to pop the bluray in and watch it again.

I got about fifteen minutes in, and said, "Okay, this is a sketchy selfish dickwad 20-something year old dude, dating a high schooler because she's submissive to his interests and apparently easily impressed. Yeah, I remember playing Nintendo games, but that doesn't mean that referencing them is innately funny or interesting. Yeah, fuck this movie."[DOUBLEPOST=1462138280,1462138184][/DOUBLEPOST]
I'm glad that Bryan Cranston thing was debunked, because if they had actually the choice between Eisenberg and Cranston and went with Eisenberg, it'd be all the more reason to hate this shit. Of course, since they've thrown Jr. onto Eisenberg's character, there's still room to have someone else play a more true to form Lex Luthor ... well, try to, while WB cocks this whole thing one movie after another.

Let's see how they bungle Wonder Woman. And when that fails, because Marvel/Disney isn't super-reactionary and kneejerk the way WB is, they won't cancel Captain Marvel and Jessica Jones season 2 under some stupid pretense that women won't make good superheroes, the way WB would if the shoe was on the other foot.
Speaking of bungling Wonder Woman:
The ending that's been leaked is, basically, she quits, takes the next hundred years off, and comes out of retirement for Batdark v Supergrim: Dark of Grimdark.

Zack Snyder is the sort of dude that, if he was a valet, no matter what you gave him the keys to, he'd come back with a matte-primer-black Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Donk.

I feel like Micky Dolenz would have been a better choice for both villain and comic relief. Or any Monkee. Even current Davy Jones.

Anyone who goes looking for those should be forewarned that the WWII propaganda ones get a bit racist.
WB added this to some of their cartoon collections when released on DVD:
Warner Bros. Home Video said:
The cartoons you are about to see are products of their time. They may depict some of the ethnic and racial prejudices that were commonplace in the U.S society. These depictions were wrong then and they are wrong today. While the following does not represent the Warner Bros. view of today's society, these cartoons are being presented as they were originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming that these prejudices never existed.

Warner Brothers is generally good about those sorts of warnings. I know they put a similar warning on a Loony Tunes collection years ago.

Disney, however, seems content to simply ban the cartoons altogether, for the most part.

It depends. When they released the WWII and Donald Duck vault collections, Leonard Maltin did introductions that talked about how Germans, Italians, and Japenese were depicted. I don't recall exactly what he said, but I believe he mentioned they're considered propaganda pieces.

Because of their being in the public domain, there also DVDs with these cartoons that don't have the warning. I just thought I'd let people know. I'd never seen them before watching a cheapo DVD you find in the $1 bin, so seeing the depictions of Japanese people, or other cartoons on the disc like Donald Duck as Hitler, were a little jarring when I was a teenager.

Nick. You gotta see this, if you haven't already.
And if you have, you might want to watch it again.
Seriously.

Also the rest of you might want to watch it, too.

The video content is great, but I hate the inflections in the narration voiceover.

That was fantastic, thank you for sharing it. I particularly liked how he mentions Superman's ability of flight debuting in this cartoon. I think it's interesting that many parts of Superman's mythos that are now commonly known were introduced outside the comics. The radio show that predated the Fleischer cartoon, for example, introduced Kryptonite, The Daily Planet, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White. I believe it also introduced many of Superman's famous phrases:

"Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Superman!"
"This looks like a job for Superman!"
And even the entire "Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!"

All this stuff that is fully entrenched in popular culture came not from the comics, but the radio show.

If I didn't hate how WB is handling the DC properties enough, they've now delayed Godzilla 2 and Godzilla vs Kong by another year each so they can lay out more shitty DC films.

I don't have to explain how much this vexes me.

Now how am I going to fall asleep!?
