That's awesome! Did you teach her that or just watch a lot of Star Wars together?
She may have heard me use the phrase to describe our cats. :teeth:
This story just gets more and more epic.

Also it spurred a conversation between Mr. ZM and me about what kind of geek phrases we'd teach our hypothetical child when he got to the parrot stage. Like we'd teach him to say "As you wish" instead of "yes" and he can curse as long as it's "gorram," "frak," or "ruttin.'" Recognizing we'd be subjecting the child to years of abuse at the hands of classmates, of course.

i'm waiting in the class room before class on thursday and the conversation somehow leads to australians and their funny words(waltzing matilda may have been involved). so i say, "as everyone knows australia is entirely populated with criminals, so clearly i can't choose the wine in front of you". the guy i said it to stares at me blankly and someone else, believing i'm being serious, huffs and goes I can't believe you just said that...turns out none of them had ever seen the princess bride. being a wes(t)ley myself this was inconceivable and then to top it all off when i try to convince them to see it one says he never wanted to because he thought it was nothing but a chick flick :tear:

anywho, as for the epic win(seeing as this is the epic win thread) i was walking through a book store yesterday and i saw that a new version of the princess bride book has been released...so i bought it :pthhp: william goldman has written a brand new intro to the book and its awesome.

-New laptop last week after my four-and-a-half-year-old trusty laptop finally started dieing. Every time I go into work at Gamestopnow, I feel like I just leveled up: "You reach Level 2! You unlock: PC Section!"

-Yesterday was my last day of work after working/going to school (minimum of ten hour days, then plus homework) every day for the past two weeks while a coworker's on vacation. Went with about seven friends I knew, ended up being nine since a friend invited a couple friends along; one of which was a really cute, really awesome girl and we hit it off immediately. She knew about Dr. McNinja! :D

-In addition to aforementioned girl, really tasty moyashi chashu ramen was had when I hadn't eaten in five hours (half-intentionally, half-not). This was followed by really tasty gyouza, which was then followed by a really happy food-coma upon returning from San Francisco.

-Today was first day off, and slept in and felt awesome. Then I woke up, showered, and sat down to really play drums for the first time in the last two weeks, and got into a ton of really good grooves. Headband came off, dreads were flying everywhere, and it turns out that--if I headbang properly--I can keep time by using my dreads to trigger my crash and/or ride cymbal.

-I was gonna fix myself something quick and easy for dinner, and instead a friend invited me over for dinner. We had applewood-smoked turkey, stuffing, and this weird (but awesome!) dish that was mainly peas, cooked with bacon grease/eggs/bacon on top. My friend and I then proceeded to play Street Fighter for about two hours, wherein it turns out my ability to dodge grabs in fighting games translates over to Street Fighter.

-My friend and I made a pact to start skydiving in April (my birth month) and do one skydive a month until we get our licenses in December (his birth month). I called dibs on our first free jump to shoving him out of a plane, solely so I can say I've shoved my best friend out of a plane.

That was my gut reaction, which was further strengthened by an 'XKCD' moment. After walking out of the restaurant, the rest of the group laughing and talking, I noticed her bouncing along with them and only stepping on certain tiles in the ground.

Me: "Why are you walking like that?"
Her: "Oh, I'm only letting myself step on certain tiles. Didn't you ever play that game?"

At my university, coursework is marked on a scale of 100. A mark in the high-seventies will get you a First, and a mark over 80 is very, very rare indeed. For my first submitted piece this year - a book review done on something written by a chap called George Monbiot - I got a 90, and a request from the module lecturer to use my essay as n example for next year's students.

Hell, yes.

Being married to Mr. ZM means epic win for me every damn day.

:waah: (in a good way)

How the hell is this girl still single? She doesn't have a hump does she?

Fuck it. Even if she did...

It may not be epic, but I invented a new forum game, and it actually seems to be working! Woo!

Subtract one for me too.

Also, referring back to ZM: "As you wish", in what tone of voice? It's so often used I don't really seei t as nerdy...of course, I can't help but hear it in a paladin's voice from WCII

The way Wesley says it to Buttercup in The Princess Bride, so yeah, it's nerdy. :geek:

LOL...okay, not quite like that every time. Because eventually you'd, you know, strangle the kid.

This carrot is GREAT. It's just sweet enough. I'm glad I bought a big bag of em yesterday.
Now that is an epic win.

Carrots can be tricky. There are average carrots. Below average carrots. And then there are carrots that are just perfect - the right amount of moisture, crunchiness, sweetness, etc. Not too much of the center part.

They just taste like they're full of vitamins.

And then I start thinking about bunnicula.

And all those poor, white, tasteless veggies he leaves behind...

:waah:

But the image of the cat pounding a USDA grade A steak into bunnicula makes me chuckle.

what?

A MOST EPIC WIN!

My band got a house gig and a hot new venue. We play every tuesday from 7-10! This'll skyrocket my band!

YESSSSSS!

It also means I'll be in town more often, and can spend more time with my girlfriend.

Double win?

I think so.

The carrots we get from our CSA co-op are the greatest. Those Mennonites may have shitty taste in facial hair, but they grow some damned fine organic produce and we get it within a day of harvest.

Jealooooous of your produce!

I'm also posting another win preemptively as incentive to actually do it.

Baaaack on the workout train today. Woowoooooo! *chuggachuggachugga*

If I don't exercise, I'll shamefully edit my post.

Banana in my pocket, I am glad to see you!

(I was a little hungry just now and noticed a banana sticking out of my jacket pocket. Epic win? Depends on your perspective, I guess)

YAY!

Okay this is pretty stupid but there's this new company or person making merit badges for nerds. Only one so far but they're taking requests on Twitter, and I just saw this:

"@zenmonkey suggested the best Nerd Merit Badge that is or will ever be: "PLAYED EVERY INFOCOM GAME"! What's on the badge?"

:D

(okay, I said it was stupid)

And the Cajungal sojourned to the Walmart wherein she purchased a box of swiss cake rolls. She divided the rolls amongst herself and her small brother, who may or may not have partaken in a particular type of plant. And he did giggle while eating the cake rolls. And she did giggle at him.
