It's not quite an epic win yet, but it's headed in the right direction. I finally decided last week that I needed to look for a new job that's closer to home (I commute about 80 miles a day, round trip, through sometimes exceptionally heavy traffic), because I'm spending about $240 a month on gas, have no benefits, can't take vacations, and am sorely, sorely in need of some dental work and medications for high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, and possible diabetes. I was expecting to have to take a pay cut, which I can't really afford, in order to do so. However, after looking around for administrative jobs (I want to get out of the call center scene, I've been in it long enough and am very quickly tiring of all the bullshit that comes with call center work), it looks like there are a lot of positions close to home that pay the same or higher and have good benefits. Now I just have to actually get one of those jobs.
I hope it works out! :)

Woke up stressed out as hell after studying for twelve hours yesterday for the ACS exam (basically a standardized exam covering an entire year's worth of organic chemistry, or around twelve hundred pages of textbook material); took the test and thought I did okay. I randomly ran into my professor later, and he scored the tests in front of me, then we analyzed it in his office; and, apparently, I scored in the top fifteen percent nationwide.

And I got $65 back for my textbook, even though I only paid $110 for it! (Textbooks through Barnes and Noble + discount there ROCKS.)

You mean to keep it repressed? That's another epic fail, dude :-P

Joking, joking. Glad to see you back. Now, never leave again.

I close on my house tomorrow!! :aaahhh: also if that bison burger didn't have bacon you ruined the most perfect day ever.
It was a bison burger topped with bacon and monterey jack cheese, with a side of chili cheese fries and a vanilla coke to drink. :unibrow:

Best. Meal. Ever.
Closed on my house yesterday, friend had their first child, had lunch at ruby tuesday....bison burger/american cheese/french fries/asian dumplings/diet coke/patron margarita.

check mate :p

Not sure if it's epic win, but i finally got off my butt and ordered a new graphics card. Been living on an internal 96mb one and raiding in WoW has been hell. Imagine all the stress of a tough boss, lots of stuff going on. Now imagine that with about 5 frames per second of smoothness (Standard TV is about 24 frame per second).

According to my brother, the new card should solve all my issues. Specially since, aside from the card, my setup is the same as his and he can play Battlefield 2 and CoD4 on medium/high settings and have it run smooth.

Double feature of Up and Drag Me to Hell at a great theatre with my honey, and a damn good BBQ chicken quesadilla for dinner afterwards.

Those of you who know me well know why this kind of thing is epic for me. :D

Sweet. Was Drag Me to Hell as freaking fun as it looks?!
Yes! It's got an Evil Dead 2 sensibility (more serious overall but very gross-funny in parts) with a big-budget look. And the Olds 88, of course. Plus the ending ROCKS. As almost everyone has said, much better than the trailers.

^ I must see that movie. It sounds very cool.

Anyhoo, I signed up for classes at mah University recently. Gonna be getting out of my dinky-but-filled-with-some-awesome-teachers-I'm-really-gonna-miss community college soon. Be done after summer classes.

Well hot damn! We had a really cool discussion in Kinesiology today! Our teacher is way cooler than I thought. This isn't going to be so bad after all. I had to get used to waking up before 9 am sometime....

Well, I've been playing Punch-Out!! throughout that night. After two rematches (and this is during the normal mode), I did.

I finally took down Mr. Sandman. That goddamn monster of a boxer. God, it felt good to take him down.

Though, now I have Title Defense mode in front of me. :Leyla:

I just deleted a snippy comment from my mother off my Facebook page.

THAT'S RIGHT, YOU'RE IN MY HOUSE NOW.

Of course I'm all guilty about it and everything... But totally worth it.

Two of my sisters have been going at it on Facebook for weeks now. It's like watching a very slow cannon battle where neither cannoneer has very good aim (on account of the fact that they aren't the brightest bulbs in the box).

Just got back from the Doctor today (Got Bronchitis from my mother). I've lost 20 pounds in the last year thanks to my diet changes! Now imagine what I could do if I actually exercised alongside the dietary changes...

Just got done with all my finals yesterday, and the girl comes home from her trip to Kentucky today. We're also gonna finish Firefly tonight! :D

Not my epic win, but must be documented nonetheless. After 6 years of crap my brother's a medic :D Might post later in the drunk thread if all goes according to plan.

Congrats to him! :D

It is almost 6. After a ridiculously stupid week, I'm finally almost free! Woohoo! Bowling, Baby Shower, and B-movies!

Chapter 20 done. 66,957 words. Halfway through, or thereabouts. Whew.

Also recently discovered that the minimum size for a story to qualify as a novel is 40,000 words, so that's... slightly terrifying, really.

depending on the publisher, 40,0000 is not a novel. :) That word count might have worked a couple decades ago, but publishers want a lot more words these days. Baen Books really frowns on less than 100K, and prefers 100-130K in their novels, for instance.
