The story of the first 3 Star Wars movies was greater. With the whole hero with a thousand faces and all that got to greater human truths. It was Pure Myth, plain and simple, with some WWII politics, and bad science thrown on top. But for the most part is is only 9 hours of lighthearted fun with a good blend of human truths about friendship, family, and war. If the new three movies could have held up to the original accidental classics it would be a run away win.

Star Trek is just a socialist fantasy about a Utopian future, with bad science thrown on top. There is much more breadth to the universe because there was so many hours of airtime dedicated to fleshing out the Universe. But the show does not have that much depth.

For Trek's ability to stay on message of a better future, and to stay relevant for so long, they tend to carry my vote.

But then again, Star Trek put out more bad movies than Star Wars did.

So your argument for superiority is the episode where Data and the rest of the crew gets outsmarted by a hologram?

Yes, and a computer powerful enough to create a genius with original thought just because some one wanted an adversary capable of out smarting DATA. Who then gets duped by Picard.

No need to play the trump card when the three of clubs works.

Because that's just how awesome Picard was! THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS! :uhhuh:

Pffft, Sisko could easily defeat Picard, Kirk, Janeway, Reynolds, Needa, Thrawn and Summers. Moore's Adama would ultimately beat his black ass, of course.

However, what everyone knows, without a doubt, is that Babylon 5 would waltz all over any %star% franchise as it is. :smug:

Well i'm sure it's hard to keep track of the conversation when your picture sig eats up 3x more space than actual post. :slywink:

Now franchise vs franchise?

Star Wars wins with extended universe books and games, as well as superior action figures.
And BTW-

Star Trek 48% (9890 votes)
Star Wars 52% (10668 votes)

I'd have to vote Star Wars. But one thing I do like about Trek is that humans kick ass. Usually, we suck in sci-fis. Not so in Trek. In fact, we kick so much ass, and know it so well, that it takes a god-like alien shooting us to Borg space to teach us a lesson.

Humans kick so much ass in Trek, we can violate the Prime Directive every week, then tell the entire rest of the galaxy that "this was the last time, we're super serious!" and have them buy it!

And that's without Jedi mind-tricks.

I prefer Star Trek more for the simple reason that it has a couple of series with a shitload of seasons. More to enjoy. I do like the Star Wars setting very much though, but it's less fleshed out then Trek going by series/movies alone. I'm not so much into normal comics and I'm hesitant to buy books because I did that once with Starcraft and didn't much care for it.
I do like what Wars is doing with the whole Clone Wars series. Not really my preferred animation style, but it's still fun to watch.

Yep.

In my opinion, creative as it is, Star Trek was just a sitcom-like show, where every episode had some new threat/planet/situation. Later DS9 went against that model, but the classeic ST model was basically a sictom model, at a time tv shows all followed that model.

SW was saga, that spun off a coherent timeline with several sagas happening in different eras, and are all connected. when I play a SW game, I´ll probably read about the characters and what happens a few years later in a book or comic. when I read a comic, I know what happened before, and where everything ties, its all part of one timeline.
