Well, you do live in Texas, which has historically been a lot closer to the cattle yards than Washington. Around here we're paying $9 or $10 per pound for a semi-decent cut of steak and as much as $17 to $20 for rib-eye. About the only meat product that comes close to Spam on price is the other varieties of canned meat, like deviled ham or chipped beef. Or vienna sausages.

A friend of mine sometimes made awesome fried rice with spam in it. I didn't know it was spam until like the 5th time having it, at which point I thought "Huh,maybe Spam isn't as bad as I thought it was."

Then I went and got my own Spam. Opened the can up, saw it, and went "Nope. Can't do this." and threw it out.

That jelly that bothers people is just cold pork stock. Next time you have a good bowl of soup, let it go cold, and it'll do the same thing.

I ate a lot of Spam and Treet (the competitor from Armour, which IS more of a mystery meat, but tastes about the same) growing up.

I really want to taste Spam just to say I have. I also want to go to the factory. It was just such a huge deal in the country around the 1950s... I'd like to check out that little slice of history.

I went ahead and just ordered the new Google Nexus 7 as an early birthday gift for myself. Which has put me in a conflicted state of emotions. I am ecstatic that I ordered it but I am also feel a bit guilty cause I know I could have used the money for for sensible purchases. Oh well I know I will be happy once I actually get my hands on the device.

Yeah, but it's in my contract. They pay me back for tuition, but to work at their school I have to continue my education.

Great, now I am having flash-backs to running 200 scantrons through the reader at the end of a semester. After a while you could grade the test in you head just by listening to the reader 'grind' on each wrong answer. Every once in a while you get some rocket-surgeon's card that sounds like rolling gravel through a belt sander... as much as I hate to say it, it made me laugh.

In some of the pictures for the new Spiderman movie, Spiderman reminds me of Dexter. Now that would be a new and original take on Spiderman.

I started following The Rock on twitter a few weeks ago on a whim. His tweets sound exactly like I thought they would...and I can hear them in his voice. I'm not a wrestling fan...I just find him to be adorable.

He is funny! I know an older lady who tries not to be racist but totally is. She has a crush on him, and this is how she tells people: I don't care if he doesn't look white; he is a handsome man.

"Goblin! What are you doing in my laboratory!"

"Ooooo, what does this button do?"

I just get the feeling he's probably REALLY dorky.
Pulling out... *GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER*.. my Rock story.

I was working for a show promoter at the time that Wrestlemania came through Houston and we did a booth at the show they do the couple of days before an event. We got to meet several of the stars, the Hardy's, Lita, Sgt. Slaughter, couple of others (honestly don't remember their names) the guy that was playing the Kane role at the time (shorter than you would think, about 6 foot) and The Rock. This was during the time just after he started doing movies, but the in ring persona was still aloof badass. He was the funniest "star" that I've ever met. He just really has the air about him of I'm enjoying this ride and having a good time doing it. He was cracking jokes and doing impressions of other wrestlers that had everyone rolling. A really nice guy in person.

The Rock is basically just the new version of Hulk Hogan: his wrestling skills aren't the greatest (An elbow drop is your sig move? REALLY?) but his charisma is just off the charts. This is ultimately more important, because charisma means you can move across industries any time you want, going into TV and film if you need a break from wrestling.

You know, I love Isaac Asimov's works, and he had some deep philosophical things to say, but dude seriously looks like he escaped from the Planet of the Apes.

(which is awesome)

And he already *has* the best opening line if he ever decides to do a cooking show. He was just 10 or 15 years early with it :p
