In probably what has been the most bemusedly bizarre forum flex ever, someone in discord (not ours) was disagreeing with me (not even arguing, just expressing a different preference) about breast size of all things, and his way of backing up his argument was to handwrite his reply to me on the back of an envelope and take a picture of it next to about $500 worth of gold and silver collector coins and maybe $1000-1500 in hundreds. Like he thought that somehow this laughable show of material wealth (which would probably amount to half a month's pay for someone making $60k/yr) was going to lend his argument on a completely non-financial topic some kind of support. I think even Andrew Tate would have groaned at this pathetic display of wannabe sigma male tiny dick energy.

The mods deleted his post shortly thereafter.

Just goes to remind me that new idiots are born into the world every day, and they're just as undeservedly confident as ever.
Were you arguing with Elon Musk?

I was reading a discussion on revenge porn (side note, revenge porn is bad, don't do revenge porn), and naturally the discussion veered a bit into "well she shouldn't have sent the nudes in the first place, if she hadn't then this whole situation could be avoided", which, y'know, is technically true, but that's also victim blaming so let's put the blame squarely on the perpetrator here.

But naturally as with probably any discussion about any topic, it's easy to end up imagining yourself as one of the involved parties and sort of mentally simulate what you would do in those situations ("Would I send nudes? In what circumstances would I agree to send nudes? What if I received nudes?"), and it suddenly led to a sharp realization that this was all theoretical for me because I've never had anyone send me any nudes before, nor have I ever sent nudes to anyone in my life. And with the issue of nudes being sent around apparently being a big topic, it kinda feels like I missed out on something that was a big part of our culture, y'know? Sort of like, say, drug use. I've never used drugs, never wanted to, but with all those anti-drug campaigns in our youths, and all those movies and TV shows and games involving drugs, and even people I know describing their experiences with various substances, it feels like drug use has always just been there as a peripheral part of my life, but I just never actually came into contact with it myself.

Anywho, I was thinking about the sending of nudes, that's all.

If you have bad FOMO about it, you can send me nudes. I'll even feign some mock outrage so that you can get the full experience. ;)

Today's conversation with the GF:

Context - pollen was extremely bad outside yesterday and we had places to go and things to do, so we both took allergy meds before going out.

Today:

Her: "Do you want another (24 hour allergy pill)?"

Me: "Nah, I'm good now."

Her: "It's 24 hour, you have to take it every day."

Me: "Or I could stay in the house and not go anywhere."

Her: "... you're going to have to leave the house at some point today."

Me: "5 years' experience of me living here seems to contradict that statement."

Her: "You didn't have a girlfriend living with you during that time."

Me: "Yes, and one of us breathes easily without medication and the other has to eat pills like tic tacs every day if she wants to continue to live. Which of us is doing the right thing?"

Her: "... WOW REALLY?"

To be fair, I have to take an allergy pill every day even when staying indoors because of the dust, so.....

Alternatively, you could tell her "Have you, perhaps, tried NOT having allergies?"

No, I will not cover your medical bills from the subsequent beating.

TVTropes has officially jumped the shark as of December 2023 when administrative review determined that, despite having over 100,000 characters in 1600 lines of evidence on its page, Heroes Want Redheads is not a trope.

Man, you have to work hard to get more pedantic and out of touch than reddit, but grats, TVTropes.

(I think somebody was just butthurt their man dumped them for a redhead, personally)

A new chapter in the book of "Nick is a dummy."

I JUST learned that NS Power only charges me for service every two months, not every month. Even though it's on automatic payments, I've ensured that I had enough in my bank account at the end of the month to cover $85 to $100 for power.

Turns out I only had to do that every two months. So I'm not paying $85 to $100 a month as I thought for the past two years, but half that.

I guess it's a blessing and a curse to have automatic payments where you don't really notice these things.

I am sooo glad I have automatic bill pay set up. I sometimes get anxious at the beginning of the month that something will go awry. If I had to write a physical check and mail it in the actual postal system. :Leyla:

Had issues with Spectrum’s stupid billing systems. Twice I had it set for autopay and they did an update to the system that wiped out everything. Then I got sent a nasty gram saying I was overdue and here are some fees, etc. Which I refused since it was their mistake that made it stop pulling from my account.

When me moved, the new house was already wired for AT&T fiber, which is faster AND cheaper somehow, so we finally completely dropped Spectrum.

We have Spectrum right now (~265 out of 300). AT&T is rolling out gigafiber where we live right now, but still not to our address. When ever I pay my mobile bill, it always does the "So much excite! Gigabit fiber now available! Tap or click here to get started!" But then when I enter my address it's all, "Ooo too bad, best we can do for you is 18."

I heard this on the radio this morning, and it's still bouncing around my head:

You're familiar with Axe Body Spray, the terrible deodorant choice of young men (and one of my ex-roommates... I start gagging thinking about it)? Well, farmers have found an actual good use for it, and it isn't to drive away women!
Apparently, Axe will keep rams from fighting each other. The smell masks their hormones enough that they don't get aggressive. How exactly they came to the conclusion to try Axe is a little puzzling, but now livestock can peacefully suffer the bad choices of youth. If only it had the same effect on dudebros everywhere, I might be able to tolerate it.

...nope, that's not true. I just remembered the green cloud that was my roommates as he left for work in the morning :puke:

One of the main ingredients in axe (and why it smells like ass) is musk, so that it confuses Rams actually makes sense to me

I'm translating a case from a tech company who's claiming that their new product will have broad applications in the future in the field of NFT digital art.

I mean, there's behind the curve, and then there's whatever this company thinks they're doing.

I remember Square Enix talking about NFT stuff for awhile and it was clear to me that they were never going to actually do it (a lot of it required other companies to implement their IP for cross-game transfer), it was just something to appease stockholders until the fad went away.

I also remember Capcom talking about it and then actually releasing a line of very shitty Megaman NFTs WAY after the crash, becoming a laughing stock in the process. Some companies are just stupid.

I guess to keep predators away? My mother has a chicken coop and use strong smells to keep foxes and others away.

Okay, okay, just hear me out.

There should be a new show, similar to Critical Role where a bunch of people sit around and play D&D...

...except it stars The Muppets.

Kermit is the DM, of course.
I think that Sam the Eagle or Scooter would be better as DM. Sam, because he would have it all planned out and the group would be constantly doing the unexpected and going “off script.” Scooter because he would never be in control but would willing to work along with all the weird stuff the gang would try.
