4 shot at Brooklyn train station when officers open fire at man trying to avoid paying fare

"Four people were wounded at a Brooklyn train station Sunday when police officers shot at a man [allegedly] threatening them with a knife, authorities said. The people hit by police gunfire included the man with the blade, one of the officers and two innocent bystanders."

I won't bother quoting any more of what the police say happened, because we know they're full of shit. For all I know they're lying about the man having a knife and threatening them.
I can't find a non-paywalled source for this but,
Police lied about how badly they injured a bystander in shooting.png

N.Y.P.D. Understated Woman’s Wound in Subway Shooting, Lawyer Says

To repeat myself "we know [the police] are full of shit". They didn't just graze a bystander, they caused serious injury.

Djeezes Christ.
That'll definitely improve the odds of anyone in that community ever calling the cops for anything not warranting immediate execution ever again.
Obviously this is one source and all that, but assuming their depiction of events holds true - and it sounds pretty damn credible - every police officer involved needs to be fired, and several of them sent to jail.
Of course, in the United States of Trump, they're more likely to receive a medal.

Saw this earlier and now can’t find the link. This happened yesterday in LA.

Two guys standing on a corner. Guy #3 comes up and pulls out an AK demanding all their stuff. The two guys grab him and disarm him. Cops roll up even though nobody called them. Shoot all three guys. No idea how they are doing but the LAPD are patting themselves on the back.

Here's a link to the story.

LAPD said no officers or other community members were injured during this incident apart from the guys we shot no-one was hurt.

Not literally police officers, but this is a police state in action:

Ga. crews accidentally kill man while clearing homeless camp

"An unhoused man was killed by a city vehicle during an encampment clearing in Atlanta, officials said.

"The man died as the Atlanta Department of Public Works cleared an encampment on Auburn Avenue, said Kim Rankins, director of the department.

"It is not clear what type of vehicle this was, or if the site was being cleared with a bulldozer."

After years railing against immigrants coming to America, Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday to prioritize the U.S. resettlement of white South African “refugees” suffering from what he called “government-sponsored race-based discrimination.”

Yes, because what the USA definitely needs more of right now is <checks notes> ... White people fleeing South Africa.

Grand jury recommends Alabama police department be 'immediately abolished'

" An Alabama grand jury has recommended that a city's police department be 'immediately abolished,' finding there is a 'rampant culture of corruption,' officials said Wednesday while announcing the indictment of five of the agency's officers, including its police chief. "

The short version seems to be that the whole department mishandled evidence, and both used and sold the drugs that were supposed to be evidence in criminal cases. To the point that one officer died of an overdose.

Poor jurors who will randomly accidentally have their doors kicked in at 3 AM for something not connected to them with cops happening on drugs in all their houses. Or something.

Cop Arrested After Girl Forced to Hold Sign in Freezing Temps

The story is so much worse than the headline. I thought this was going to be a story of some teen being shamed for shoplifting or something, but holy shit it got dark fast.

"An Indiana police officer and his wife face charges of child abuse and neglect after, authorities say, their 6-year-old daughter was forced to stand outside in freezing temperatures holding a humiliating sign. Passers-by saw the girl standing outside a home in Logansport in 18-degree weather during the January incident, which is just now being widely reported. The sign read, 'I want to stab and kill my brother. I even take an antipsychotic. If you need to give pity then give it to the victims,' "

Shaming a 6 year-old for having a mental illness and needing medication is horrific.

I'm going to bet there's a whole lot more abuse that's gone on.

Ok so this might belong in this thread, and also it might not. I'm not sure. Nobody is sure.
"None of this is in any way normal," Matthew Green, a professor specializing in cryptography at Johns Hopkins University, wrote on Mastodon. He continued: "Has anyone been in contact? I hear he’s been missing for two weeks and his students can’t reach him. How does this not get noticed for two weeks???"
"It's hard to imagine what reason there could be for the university to scrub its website as if he never worked there. And while there's a process for removing tenured faculty, it takes more than an afternoon to do it."
