Even in my younger days I never understood why they wanted Pikachu so badly. They had a fucking talking Pokemon, and they thought Pikachu was the big deal?
By the same measure, Giovanni knew Meowth could talk and ditched his ass the second he got a Persian.Even in my younger days I never understood why they wanted Pikachu so badly. They had a fucking talking Pokemon, and they thought Pikachu was the big deal?
Come for the cuteness, stay for the extended Twin Peaks references.Soul Eater Not is so damn cute!
I find the characters in FT to be more fun to watch than in other shounen series as well. The humor's pretty spot-on most of the time, and the filler arcs are actually pretty good.I am watching Fairy Tail. Like SAO, it breaks shonen tradition a little in that the main muscle is not an idiot like say Goku or Naruto. Natsu's intelligence is pretty refreshing. It's almost lampshaded in the series itself in that the villain-of-the-day expects Natsu to be an idiot, and that's usually how he wins.
I'm honestly more surprised we haven't seen more internet based guys getting jobs in the industry... the entire cast of Dragon Ball Z Abridged should be swimming in work at this point.Huh. Apparently Sting Eucliffe in Fairy Tail is voice acted by Michael "Rage Quit" Jones. I guess his work on RWBY impressed people at Funimation.
This is part of it too. You basically have to live in LA or Texas to get into the business at all.As far as I know, Funimation keeps their dubbing in house. They have it all streamlined to keep costs down, so unless one is willing to relocate to Texas, Funi probably isn't interested. Michael Jones lives in Austin.
Part of it has got to be the appeal of Lupin III and the impact it made when the manga first showed up, but another factor that I think has helped with its popularity is how you can basically plop Lupin and his crew into all sorts of different stories and not have to worry about catching up. It's not like most anime or manga where there is a consistent on-going story. Lupin III has its stories as pretty standalone. You can check out pretty much whatever and not worry about if you'll miss anything due to continuity. It never ceases to amaze me how the manga for Lupin III ended literally DECADES ago yet they keep spawning movies and TV shows. Kinda like Dragonball with their video games....only in that case I wish it would stop. There's only so many ways you can trick an audience into think playing as Apule is fun guys!
Indeed, its like a slightly more adult Tom and Jerry in that respect. Or vastly more adult, as the latter 2000s shows are.Part of it has got to be the appeal of Lupin III and the impact it made when the manga first showed up, but another factor that I think has helped with its popularity is how you can basically plop Lupin and his crew into all sorts of different stories and not have to worry about catching up. Indeed. Also, this news is awesome to me because I am a big Lupin III fan. While I was introduced to anime through stuff like Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z on Toonami back in the day, I consider Lupin III to be my true introduction to anime because I had to hunt it down. First I saw the series they showed on Adult Swim, watched The Mystery of Mamo and The Castle of Cagliostro, and from there I was hooked.Indeed, its like a slightly more adult Tom and Jerry in that respect. INDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED...I don't really have anything ot add to this, I just wanted to keep the INDEED chain alive.Indeed. Fuck...my wallet can only take so much.Anime sale at DVDPlanet, ends Oct. 28th. Maybe some good deals, I haven't paid attention to prices for a while.
Yeah I cant wait for the viz physical release.I fucking love Sailor Moon Crystal. It is so much better than the original. >.>
Ya know, I'm kinda torn on this: on one hand, this is definitely far closer to the original manga in both pacing and visuals. On the other hand, I do miss the extra character development and even the exaggerated comedy of the original series.I don't miss the constant use of repeated cycles from the original series and I do think Crystal makes Usagi a little more tolerable since she's far less whiny.I fucking love Sailor Moon Crystal. no no, it was the movie I paid $100 for, the second season was like 50 bucks new when it came out.My recent anime purchases:View attachment 16365 View attachment 16366 View attachment 16367 View attachment 16368 I'm really happy not having paid 100$ like Bones. The dvd is an import from the uk sent via airmail in an envelope like a letter and the mailman pushed it in the mailbox with a little to much force. View attachment 16369
Yeah, I like how he constantly shuts down the blonde that tries to be tsundere. I wouldn't say the girls are not stereotypes, though, because they definitely remind me of other characters I've seen. Also, this show looks to me like it's going to end up like Little Busters or Clannad. There's going to be something super wrong with everyone and it's going to become insanely sad.Right now I am watching Grisaia no Kajitsu and it is a lot of fun. The girls are not the usual stereotypes one gets in this kind of anime and the protagonist is also a lot of fun to watch. I really like sarcastic, selfaware protagonists (Kyon for example) or fish out of water guys (Souske Sagara from FMJ) and this protagonist is both.
I agree with all of this. We just started watching season 5. It's so hard to keep from marathoning it because we both want to see what happens next both with the main plot and the side antics.I find the characters in FT to be more fun to watch than in other shounen series as well. Love that series, and after reading that post I wikied it(as I do with everything I love that I forget and remember it exists) and its over here now in tankoban form! YOSH! Gettin' the HELL out of that.Speaking of Fairy Tail, if you want more fun shounen check out Nanatsu no Taizai (Seven Deadly Sins). The art feels like a throwback to DBZ mixed with Oda's action in One Piece and Fairy Tail, plus all the comedy you'd expect of a shounen.
