I solved this problem by not playing anything past Pokemon Yellow.bhamv2 said:That's one thing I'm not really a big fan of... each generation's legendaries keep outclassing previous generations. Except Mewtwo, I guess.
Its like Dragonball you see, first becoming a monkey is your strongest form, then becoming Super Sayan (not as strong as the legendary Super Sayan), SS2 (oops, now legendary Super Sayan has been surpassed), SS3, joining, SS5 and etc....Shawnacy said:I solved this problem by not playing anything past Pokemon Yellow.bhamv2 said:That's one thing I'm not really a big fan of... each generation's legendaries keep outclassing previous generations. But based on stats alone, legendaries are still getting tougher. Which Pokemon can stand up to Arceus toe to toe, apart from another Arceus? Similarly, before D/P, Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza were nearly uncounterable. (Though Shedinja vs Kyogre is still highly amusing) Which legendary from generation 1 is still used competitively, apart from Mewtwo? (Okay, fine, Zapdos in a baton passing or sleep talking role, but only occasionally)AshburnerX said:It's more a matter of each surpassing generation having better game mechanics than each generation having better legendaries. Even then, some of the older ones (Like Jirachi, Mewtwo, and Kyogre) are still somewhat useful because of unique moves, elemental combinations, special abilities, or learnable TMs.

Garchomp, if built properly. You could also gamble and try using a fast Pokemon with a OHKO move.bhamv2 said:But based on stats alone, legendaries are still getting tougher. Which Pokemon can stand up to Arceus toe to toe, apart from another Arceus?
Hmm, I'm skeptical about Garchomp, but I'll keep an open mind. As for OHKO moves, that's always a gamble, not really reliable enough to be a sure option.AshburnerX said:Garchomp, if built properly. The biggest problem with defeating him is that you have to guess his type, but even then that will only give a slight advantage if you cant overcome his superior speed.AshburnerX said:Garchomp, if built properly.
