VR Adventures

So, I downloaded virtual desktop, which allows you access to desktop apps while in VR, like a web browser. And then somehow my keyboard glitched out and went to www.pornhub.com/vr and I became trapped there, having to fight my way out.

This certainly isn't something I would ever recommend.

Use Bigscreen instead. VD (irony of the name not escaping me) is supposedly loaded with bugs right now, unless they've fixed it.

In all seriousness...how is that? Because thats about what would convince me to maybe purchase VR.

Virtual Desktop (from what I understand) is okay, but a free program called Big Screen apparently does the same thing. I've used Big Screen and it's cool, but not a big enough reason (in my views) to go VR. Now, if you're looking at movies, there's a program called Cineveo that is supposed to be pretty good. Of course, there's also Steam's Big Picture Mode, which works amazingly well with the Vive.

I'm currently helping alpha test a game where you shoot Orcs. I find it hard to believe it's an alpha, though. It's pretty damned cool.[DOUBLEPOST=1470583967,1470583911][/DOUBLEPOST]If I get the okay from the dev I'm going to try and stream it tonight. I'll let you know.

Well, I streamed a couple hours on Twitch today. And only one of the times did it record. The other two times it recorded audio only. Damn it. It was good stuff, too! The music was really loud until I got into the game, but after that it was okay.

It's not bad. The 3D effect from stereoscopic 3D is actually pretty cool, and most of the content I checked (for science) was either just 3D video or a 360 Degree 3D video where you could look in all directions. But I wouldn't spend a grand on this just for VR Porn. At least not until the technology really takes off in Japan, because then we'll start seeing the primo weird shit.

It's on my list! But I just had to contact HTC support to finally get the bundle of games they were supposed to send me with the purchase of the vibe, so I've got Tiltbrush, Fantastic Contraption and Job Simulator to go through first.

I didn't know you could get games that used those peripherals with the vive

From what I understand, it's not even really porn... more of a... "annoy a pretty girl" simulator.
Well, it depends. Annoy a pretty girl simulator is most of the things coming out of japan, while most of the VR porn in the west is mostly 360 videos.

What has two thumbs and just ordered a GTX 1080?

THIS GUY!

You... you can't see it, because of text, but I'm pointing to myself. With my thumbs. See, the joke setup called for someone with thumbs, and... this was a poor joke for a text medium. The point is PC MASTER RACE

Couldn't wait for the 1080 Ti to come out?

--Patrick

If you wait for the next big thing, you'll wait forever.

Also, I'm pretty sure the TI would be out of my price point. I follow a semi-regular ritual when it comes to upgrading, trying to find the most efficient price point. Normally, I would have gone with the 1070 (or its AMD equivalent, assuming they ever get their shit together) but this generation brought a surprisingly lower price point in the 1080, and I've foolishly decided to invest in VR, so the extra horsepower will be welcome.

Well, just go ahead shatter that image of irresponsibility I had for you, why don't you?

--Patrick

To further shatter it, the reason I ordered it now is because I found a buyer for my current GTX 970 to offset some of the cost.

But then I also once bought a Virtual Boy, so... you know.

That doesn't shatter anything. That's expected.
I'm the one who keeps all the old/outmoded hardware, remember?

I do have a windows 98 machine with nothing installed on it but Diablo (the first one) and its less than canon expansion Hellfire, just so I can play The Dark mod, which still holds as one of my favorite games ever. But I broke the habit of having closets full of old computers when I realized I would one day die under a beige avalanche.
