What, no Pokemon Go thread?

Ungh I've hit a point in field research where it's like, might as well stop playing now because that's not happening.

"win a level 3 or higher raid"?
That's just not happening. It's so rare I have the time while I'm out to take part in a raid, and 10x more rare that anyone else is actually there doing the raid alongside me.

"Trade a pokemon"?

Not unless they enable long distance trades, because none of my friends play.

"Take part in 10 raids"?

I might get that one done in like, 2 years.

Like a lot of Nintendo (and Japanese devs in general), a lot of the "multiplayer" features tend to center around being around a lot of people. This is because damn near everyone in Japan uses public transportation, so it's never exactly hard to find other people doing this stuff. I know Nintendo didn't directly make this, but it's clear where their control was.

It's sort of why most of the 3DS Pass features were kind of worthless; if you didn't live in a city or go to places with lots of other players, you were never getting enough Street Pass connections to do ANYTHING.

I'm there with ya, I just don't raid. Rarely am I someplace that it's a raid happening then, even less so that anyone else is around. I've had exactly two raids that I've been in that's had more than just me involved, once in Gatlinburg, TN and once in Galveston, TX. Both times were while on a vacation/time off, and several hours from home.

Also, I will say that from about level 25 on up, it is possible to do a level 3 raid solo. Certainly not all of them, it depends on the boss having some exploitable weaknesses, but it is doable - just make sure to focus on offense, not defense.
And if you're not 25 - start giving gifts to the world! 10 ultra friends is 500k (or a million with lucky eggs and some timing).

@checkeredhat Machamp is the first level 3 raid that you should look to try and solo. A psychic and flying team will help. Level is important, but only up to a point. You can always have a second team pre-made and on standby for after the first team goes.

Once you have a good team of them, you will be in great shape for others.

The other option is to join a local group for raids? Maybe someone there wants to duo some of these?

With this one, I think you only need to start the battle, then you can dip.

If nothing else it's worth trying, since it sounds like you're not likely to use a raid pass otherwise.
Yup just discovered this yesterday. Don't even need to actually start the battle, just enter the raid waiting area.

But entering (even just with 6 pidgeys) results in at least a few hundred stardust, so...
Yes but I play mostly while either jogging, or while on the streetcar on my commute to/from work. I don't stop for more than like 30sec. so I don't have time for that. It'd be nice if you had an option to skip the wait for a raid.

You can move on from a gym and still complete the raid as long as you've been in the lobby for at least 50 seconds. I understand why they don't allow it, but I too wished there was a skip option.

.... No you can't. I have tried. It kicks me out of the battle as soon as I'm out of range.

In my experience, you have to stay within range until the GO animation ends and the battle actually begins, then you can leave the area. But if you glitch out or have to re-enter after losing your 6 starters, you have to go back in range to rejoin. This is how my raid groups manage 30+ raids in those 3-hour specials

Yup, I've done it myself too...and seen it done, often enough. But glitching or re-entering give problems.

I'm still trying to get Go trained to know that there is an active player in the area of the new house. Hopefully I'll get a little action once we go out to run some errands.

I had an awesome shiny and raid day today in the game including my second hundo Kyogre. This one I caught myself too like a big girl. A very nice guy in our group caught my last one because I was freaking and back when he was last out, I was terrible at catching. Here are the twins at level 40 :) (totally worth leveling the new one up today I thought)

I went in a car with some friends and we did well. I was able to get what I needed before I had to leave early.

A lot of people locally got none.
