Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

Hey, I had my whine already. Do I miss fall? Yes. Am I getting tired of 100+ every day for most of the last five months? Yes. Will I care in about a month? Hopefully, no, when it's actually reasonable during the day.
This is true. And besides, I'd never tell you you didn't deserve to whine about something if you chose to. Even perfect weather can get grating after a while.

Dangit, I had today all planned out. Get up in the morning, have some breakfast, clean the kitchen, make a batch of sugar cookies to use up the buttercream from my botched macarons from the other day, start working on my biscotti recipe. But noooooooooo, it's supposed to get up to the 90s again today, and that's just too hot to run the oven all day.
See, if you were in Europe, temps in the 90s would be great, because it'd mean you didn't have to turn on the oven at all! :trolol:

I'm on vacation in Tunisia, and the weather here has been so windy I can't lie on the beach for all of the duration of our stay so far. Sitting inside playing board games with my gf is fun and all, but it's not why I came here.

Well, hopefully it'll stay a little calmer here, temp wise, today. Yesterday's 41F wake up temp (at 5:30 am) and 92F afternoon high made for a brutal combo. Now it's back down to 42F... keeping it to a 30 degree daily temperature swing would be nice.

I'm embarrassed I even submitted one story to magazines. It was the first short story I wrote this year, i.e. the first I'd written in years, and it's clear I was still rusty. This morning I revised it heavily, carved it down another 1,000 words in the process, so now it's pretty good. Can't do much about those other magazines though. I'm kind of crossing my fingers they choose not to publish that overwritten, bloated version, and yet at the same time it's not like I'll be upset if they do since it's more money and more of my name out there.

Conflicted.

Also we have closing today and I'm sooooo stressed and there's so much to do!

My cat has taken to overeating and then puking up the excess undigested food immediately >_< Every day or two with this. I'm so fed up of cleaning the carpet. Why, cat?! You rarely used to ever do this.

There might be something missing in their diet, or they could be stressed, ill, or otherwise unhappy with something. Your vet may be able to give you some clues.

If you're free-feeding them, maybe try a switch to 2+ reasonable daily meals (usually morning and evening) so they can't gorge as much. If you're feeding them dry food, maybe try the same brand's wet food (with kibble dust in it to help them adapt) and see if the problem persists.

I think the problem is, it seems like he doesn't like to eat unless he is in my presence. And I'm gone for most of the day, so by the time I get home, he's famished. I open the door, he greets me, and then almost immediately "leads" me to his full food bowl, where he then proceeds to chow down, then get a big drink of water, then puke. I clean it up, he settles in, then maybe over the next few hours he nibbles a little more here and there.

Did this start happening after you brought him to work with you? Maybe he's stressed out by being home alone so long.
You might be on to something there... maybe not work, but it did start happening after I got back from my trip to NM/CO.

Could you make some time in the morning to have him eat with you, then remove the food? You could also split his evening meal in 2 or 3 so he can't overdo it. There's plenty of guides online on how to reduce cat stress. There's also products like Feliway (have never tried it, almost did when I introducing Alistar to being indoors).

In terms of slowing down the eating, I can recommend the Catit puzzle feeder, which worked great for Mixa (she was prone to vacuuming up her dry food, this intervention cut down her puking the most). I don't need it anymore, if you want it mailed in a flat rate at cost. Otherwise, you can find various models on Amazon (the Catit brand has really cool and affordable ones, like a digging base, and multi-levels).

I use Feliway. I think it de-stresses our cats a bit. A puzzle feeder might be a good solution in this case.

He’s worried you’re going to abandon him for a week again.

Heh. You already figured it out!

THERE’S your problem. Cat eats dry food until he feels full. Cat then drinks a bunch of water. Water soaks into dry food and swells it up to the point where the cat has to vomit the excess in order to relieve the discomfort (a feeling I’m sure you know!). Eventually the cat may start to associate that discomfort with that particular brand of food, so this is probably something you should address sooner rather than later.

So how do I convince a cat to drink first and THEN eat?

Once our cats started fighting over the food (that’ll happen when you have 6 of ‘em), I got them a feeder with a timer and only dispensed rnoderate amounts spaced out every couple of hours or so, so none of them could prove their dominance by eating all the food (and then puking it up in the hallway).

Stupid cats.

The vet who told me about the swollen stomach = barf thing said this is not uncommon, so I assume there’s plenty of Internet advice about how to minimize this, I’ve just never looked for it after the timer thing fixed both.

My father-in-law Never. Shuts. Up. (Even when he's asleep, he snores loudly enough the I can clearly hear him upstairs.)
I like peace and quiet.
I MISS peace and quiet.

So, let me preface this by saying that my grandma owns a sizeable patch of land up north that used to house her and my grandpa's farm. Now it's a rundown property since they both went from independent living to needing constant assistance very quickly. Anyways, the land and the stuff on the land is worth about 600,000.

I'm jealous of my garbage cousin.

APPARENTLY, my grandma decided to split it between my aunt and my dad before she goes so that all the will stuff can be handled while she's still cognitive enough to deal with it. My aunt immediately just gave it to her only son. The shitty cousin I've bitched about before who's a massive scumbag and racist. etc. Worst of all, he ruined my grandfather financially when I was very young (he's 8 years older than me). He stole 10,000 from my grandfather's safe to buy a truck (he was 16) and forced his business into bankruptcy because of it, losing my grandpa's oppurtunity to own gas distribution through all the north of Alberta and the NWT (funny enough, his nephew, my dad's cousin picked up the slack caused by this in the NWT and is now a multi-multi-millionaire). This was basically when my grandpa was forced to retire and just gave up business to quietly pig farm the rest of his independent days. My grandparents being sweethearted good folk of course forgave him.

My dad's half was apparently sold and he's been awful quiet it. I just assume he used it to pay off his house or something so he can continue living in the little shithole town he loves but where he isn't well liked and has trouble making it work there.

I know it isn't my money, but I'm still jealous that my garbage cousin that thoroughly wrecked the financials of my grandparents gets to cash in to the tune of 300,000.00 while I, the responsible fucking grandkid, who was always there to drive them across the fucking province, over and over and over and over again for their many medical issues AND HAPPY TO DO IT, won't see dollar one.

We had our first interpretation class today.

I've forgotten how to do interpretation, and I'm very bad at it, and this is frustrating.

I feel you, man. I'm pretty darn good at the written stuff (and I should be, I've been doing this professionally for 16 years), but while I'm passable at delayed interpretation, I'm irredeemably bad at simultaneous.

it was cold, misty, and not nice today so tonight i test fired the furnace for the season, and now the house smells like burnt bacon from clearing the firing chamber of dust. :{

I've been in pain for the past week. Got a fucked up tooth, probably needs a root canal, but I can't afford to go to the dentist, so learning to chew on the right side of my mouth is cheaper.

It's weird that health insurance covers everything except your mouth and eyes.

Hour my ass... over 6 hours to get everything transferred, and I still haven't been into all the apps to get them reauthorized for use.

Day 3 with a mystery splotchy rash on my left upper back. It itches enough that hydrocortisone cream is doing jack. It intermittently feels like someone is pushing needles into my back muscles. It quietens down when I stop moving my arms, but it's distracting me a lot at work and when doing chores. Haven't scratched it (I mostly can't reach it), but I keep daydreaming about taking a cheesegrater to it.

What's been keeping me awake are my legs, my ankles/calves keep radiating dull pain in the evenings/night. Started the same day as the rash. Ibuprofen 1-2h before bedtime worked last night, though, so more of sidekick whine.

The transfer process works by backing up to iCloud and then redownloading that backup (rather than just going peer-to-peer), so that delay may have mainly been your WiFi speed, assuming it wasn’t that either phone didn’t additionally need to be updated.
hydrocodone cream is doing jack.
FYI poison ivy/sumac/etc rashes do not respond to antihistamines (assuming you meant “hydrocortisone cream” instead of hydrocodone, though the idea of topical Vicodin does have a certain appeal).
