Power has been out for about 5 hours. It’s now getting dark and the temp inside and outside are dropping. And the Cowboys are on TV and kicking ass.

The wife and I played Yahtzee for a while but now we’re losing the light.

On the bright side, I had to take tomorrow off to do some things I was supposed to do today.

Julie and I destroyed ourselves cleaning the apartment and removing every last bit of things we owned except the light bulbs since there were explicit instructions to have working bulbs in all the ceiling lights. That took some trial and error fun.

The place looks great from ceiling to floor, aside from the known issues caused by the apartment complex's neglect, but I think they're still going to try nailing us for what they can since state law protects us against charges for carpet and wall cleaning. I have a law firm on retainer through work, but I'd rather keep paying the fee for that and never need them than actually have to get tangled in a bunch of garbage over Landlords Inc.

Also, they've been throwing a lot of our recycling in the garbage for years and we just found out this weekend while cleaning. Assholes.

This is why I "liked" your post. Aussie and I had to do something similar with our landlord. We had a military lawyer who send the landlord a letter so we would get our deposit back. In Hawaii the law protects them, not the tenant.

I hope it went smoothly that way. I remember the law firm rep at the presentation said "You'd be surprised how many situations end just by one party receiving a letter with a law firm's letterhead."

Everything went out again last night and stayed out all night. Just came back on a few hours ago. It got pretty cold in here, but it's going to be in the 60's the rest of the week so no more worrying about it.

I use BitDefender Pro as one of my two virus programs. It updated and now it thinks that a lot of my stuff is ransomware. And so, of course, it just removed it all without asking. All my Rimworld saves are gone. (Not that these matter very much considering the game updates to 1.0 in two days and they'll all be gone anyway.)

But what REALLY chaps my hide is all my Pathfinder: Kingmaker saves are gone. Every one of them. I put in an exception now, but the damage is done. My level 10 party who was almost at the end of Chapter 2 is deleted.

Fuck. I think I need to rethink my virus program. This fucking thing false positives all the fucking time.

Most antivirus programs can be set to quarantine instead of outright deleting, that may be better for your peace of mind. We use F-Secure at work, I'd probably use NOD32 at home otherwise, and I believe both allow it.

Does Steam not cloud save for the Pathfinder game?

If you know what the files are, try Recuva.

It's nice that my mother helps keep the kitchen clean when she is here, but she puts things away in the wrong places constantly and then I can never find them for days or weeks. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I just dropped a mint on a smoking pipe. It was supposed to be delivered today. Supposed to... So I keep waiting. Nothing in the Continental USA should take a week and a half shipping.

What I am looking forward to...

The damned post office said they attempted to deliver the package at 5:25. I was outside with my dog, who was taking a dump at 5:25. I hate liars.

I'm expecting an Amazon Prime delivery tomorrow. The last Sunday delivery came back "undeliverable could not gain access to building."

I live in a fucking HOTEL.

I've completely given up the notion of anything shipped FedEx ever arriving on time. It started last year with Christmas packages that were three days late, then five days late, then supposed to be delivered the 23rd, then "whoops, no one was home" - and they never even drove their truck down our street that day. We called the supervisor and made them re-attempt delivery that day, and behold, the package was delivered. We've never had one on time since. They usually spend at least two days sitting in some shipping hub somewhere on the east coast after being shipped to Oregon from California. One time I had a package sit for two days at the "package sorting facility" in Hornbrook, CA. Hornbrook, CA doesn't have a package sorting facility for FedEx. They're a census designated place with a population of 248 people, just off the I-5 in Northern California. You know what is in Hornbrook? Nothing. It's just the last place you can pull off the freeway before getting to Oregon and stop for two days at the truck repair place. It's to the point now, that if someone only ships FedEx, I'll avoid ordering from them. Especially since we're not the only ones around here who have this issue. More and more, if you don't order from Amazon and get their weight behind your shipment timeline demands, you don't get timely shipping - only around here it's becoming, if you don't order from Amazon, you don't get your product. I suspect it has more to do with Amazon tending to obfuscate what's in the box than it does anything else.

this is me with UPS Surepost and Amazon. I ordered a pair of work shoes, duty belt, and gear last week on friday. They arrived in MN on thursday, they will be delivered to the post office on monday, and dropped at my house on tuesday. WUT

That looks interesting. Available for $15.50 for a 2-pack on eBay. I wouldn't spend $35 to try it out, but $15 I might give it a go.

A couple of months back I was waiting on a Fedex Express shipment at work on a Friday. It was a piece of equipment that we needed to do a job on Sunday. I was keeping up with the shipment through their online system, showed it arriving at the depot at like 11am, then about 30 minutes later the shipment was marked as "business closed - unable to deliver." After sputtering about it for about 10 minutes, I gave the national account center a call. They took the info, called in a supervisor, asked if it was okay to put me on hold, I said yeah, sure. Apparently while I was on hold they called directly to the depot to ask just what the hell they were doing there. They came back on the line from me ans said that someone would be giving us a call to schedule a special delivery for us. I got that call, it was the depot supervisor, he promised to have the package in our hands in less than 45 minutes. It took 47, but the look on his face when he had to face someone that called them on just flat out lying about trying to deliver and having someone much higher on the food chain give him a call. It was a good Friday.

Long distance relationships are the pits and I hate them.

Nothing like insomniacing late at night on the phone with your equally insomniacing girlfriend and finishing the conversation to try to go to bed with:

Me: How come you're not here?

Her: How come you're not heeere?

And neither of us having a good answer. CHEERIST, I can't sell this house fast enough.

Update update. Nissin Nakiryu tantanmen ramen is GOOD. Nicely spicy, but not too spicy. Maybe not worth nearly $9 a bowl on repeated purchase, but worth the money for at least one set.

Are these prescription or OTC? I had that start up with the Walmart ones a while back. Switched to Centrum (and sometimes Kroger's Centrum equivalent) with no issues.
OTC, but recommended by my surgeon. They're specifically formulated for post-surgical bariatric patients (which means they're more expensive, natch), and apparently nausea happens sometimes commonly.

My multivitamin has started making me nauseous :(
Just yesterday I had to be up early for work, and since I put all the air conditioners* into the attic on Sun, I had a breakfast of Aspirin and Ibuprofen and decided to take my multivitamin at the same time. Then I jumped in the shower and got myself ready for work...which includes taking my multivitamin.
Again.
The burps during the hourlong drive to work tasted SO unpleasant.
Also my piss practically glowed in the dark. My poor kidneys!

*except one, which I did this morning after it finally dried out.
