Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

Humbug.
My hours are being cut back to 75% as of June 1.
Bah.

It's more complicated than that, cuz I'm going to be paid 75% all year, but work full time Sept-May, then be off for the 3 summer months.
And I still get all my vacation and education time, just less education funding.
It's all very weird.

I think it's kinda dumb we're having "Spring Break" next week. No one can go anywhere and having remote schooling helped keep the kids occupied. It would have been smarter to do what some schools are doing and work through the break and finish earlier in June.
But I also sympathize with the teachers, many of whom are doing double duty of teaching AND home schooling their own kids, and they could probably use the break.

Well, I'm back home. She's not gone yet but she's stopped breathing a few times and they have taken away all her medications. She rouses for a bit, says a few nonsensical words and then has to go back to sleep. Couldn't stay there tonight as she has a roommate and we didn't want to bother her, but we're back for round #2 tomorrow morning.

It wouldn't be so bad but I have no signal there so my phone is basically a lump of metal that displays pretty pictures and this little icon that spins in place...

So the rent check finally cleared, so I go get a couple things I need for tonight with that last $15 I have in the bank. Wake up to find an autopay subscription I forgot about hit, leaving me ~$20 in the hole.

Paycheck showed up while I was asleep. So I have to go to the bank first thing in the morning. Can't do the 'post a picture' thing, unless I want to be overdrawn until Monday or Tuesday.

I'm so sorry you (all) are having to deal with this. I know how rough it can be.

I really wish I hadn't been right about this. I'm so sorry, Dave.

Back home again. Day #2 of the vigil and the score is Mom - 2, Grim Reaper - 0. I'll be back tomorrow for the exciting Round #3. The Grim Reaper is a bit behind, but he's got an undefeated record.

So on a more serious tone, mom's resting heart rate (because resting is all she's doing) is at 143 bpm. And since they've taken her off all of her heart medication and hasn't eaten anything for a couple days (nor drank anything more than a teaspoonful at a time) it's a race as to what's going to finish her first. The hospice nurse told us that she's definitely going to go but it could be 5 minutes from now or 5 days from now. Oh joy. At least I badgered them enough that they have given me the wi-fi password and I can actually contact the world again. I know it's good that I'm there but holy fuck it's so boring!! I knew this from going through it with my dad, but since th eplace is on lockdown it's even quieter. Plus this place is a memory facility while the one my dad was at was a full-on hospice hospital wing with all its noises and goings on.

Anyway, just checking in to let everyone know that yes, I'm fine. No, I don't need more hugs. I just hope it happens soon.

I'm sorry, Dave. Hugs are all I have to give right now, so you'll just have to take them. :)

And a whine from my mom, who is doing okay. The nursing home she's at has been on lockdown for a few weeks now. And that means no outside food. They're stuck with their cafeteria meals. She's a little annoyed about that. Especially since the day the lockdown went in place, my sister was already on her way over with a nice lunch.

My aunt Lavon has been put on hospice and has been given morphine. So her & mom are racing to the finish line. So we cousins have been commiserating.

I'm sitting in the room. The sister has left to go home. I'm going to be there all night so she's not alone when she goes (if, in fact, she goes during the night). Then the nurse comes in and tells me that the director called and I can't stay so they kicked me out. So I'm home again and pissed off. That's the SECOND time the director has been called and the rules changed on us.

TBH, I'm surprised you've been allowed in there at all.

Yup... i assumed it was because USA isn't in lockdown. All non-essential visits have been forbidden here for quite some time now. Wake is Non-essential. Parents of children in the hospital are considered non-essential unless they're on hospice care - and even so, only one parent.

My aunt and uncle almost certainly have coronavirus. They're showing enough of the symptoms to the point that they're getting tested. They live out in New Jersey so I can't say it's suprising, but hopefully it doesn't get worse than the fevers they have. If they test positive they're the first people I know that have it.
They both tested positive for it, but are already pretty much back to normal.

Turns out I lied. We gave Togo tomorrow to clean out her room. Fun fun.

And thanks, all. It’s good that it’s done.

So I'm in the process of buying a house (wonderful timing, isn't it?) and despite all the odds, real estate transactions are still happening, so I should be getting close to closing. My apartment lease expires at the end of April so I'd really like to be out before then, since while I can't be evicted, I'd rather not deal with it. As of Wednesday, everything was going smoothly, the people selling the house are moving into a vacant house so they don't need to wait on people to leave theirs.

Now suddenly, they aren't closing on the new new house and they want to push my closing until they do. That's a very common contingency to put into real estate transactions, but they chose not to. I don't understand how you could choose to leave that out when you don't already have your next place to live. That being said, the coronavirus stuff means that I don't think we can really force the transaction to go through. I figure I can back out of the deal and get my deposit back, but I'd want the house. And I'd like the urgency becuse the house is something like 3x the size of my apartment and I'd much rather be quarantining myself in there.
Everything is angling to closing Thursday. Some intense fingercrossing gonna be done from now until then.

I forgot to put the utilities in my name. I called the electric company: fine. I call the gas company: fine. I call the water company: "you called the wrong number. the town youre in has their own water company." I call the water company for the town: "Thank you for calling our offices. We are closed due to coronavirus."*

*I hope it goes without saying that all of these companies have worthless websites for accomplishing what I'd like to.

Yeah, I'm sure they won't turn off my water. Just more that needs to be worked out. Thankfully, thats billed quarterly, so I have some time.

Fuckers.
My hours are now being cut back to 50% as of July 1.

The peeps in charge finally did the financial examination they should have done years ago, and decided they can only afford half-time staff.

Happy Easter to me.
