[TV] Winter HAS COME! - A Game of Thrones

That man needs to be chained to a chair, and informed that now football season is over, he needs to get back to work on what his actual fans are waiting for.
While I want to see the series finished, editors doing pretty much precisely that to Douglas Adams is exactly why the sequels to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy get progressively worse and more depressing.

H2G's fourth and fifth book were depressing because Douglas Adams was, shockingly, depressed. Other than that, the humour got away from him a bit as he had to go ever-more-outlandish and because he wrote them straight to book unlke the earlier three which were first radio/tv/newspaper/live action/whatnots.

GRR has already stated that he has a lot of time to fill, so to say, because he misjudged distances and travel times. Tyrion needed to be with Daenerys earlier and such. He only realised this somewhere around book 4 or 5 when it was too late for him to do much about it (well, except some Deus-ex-Machina). Sam and Tyrion need to unite with Dany before much else can happen that-a-way. Bran needs to grow up a bit because he's too young for some of the stuff that's supposed to happen to him...
Bad timing, I guess. Other than that, the biggest problem, I think, is that he's too busy with everything else.

What I'm afraid of is that, either he'll have a heart attack and die and leave it unfinished, or, he'll "have" to finish the later books more quickly so as to stay ahead of the TV series, and both the story and the storytelling will suffer as a result.

I believe it has been commented before that Martin didn't need 2 books, he needed an editor who would actually tell him to calm the fuck down. DWD is worse than FFC sadly. BTW, Daenarys is sad.
I disagree, it's not that he didn't need two books, it's that they needed to be way shorter... the split works well enough, but the books feel padded, especially DWD.

I think what happened was after SoS he was going to jump ahead some amount of years then fill in what happened in the interim in the course of his storytelling.
Originally it was supposed to be a trilogy... which is why GoT moves so much faster then any of the other books...

BTW, i heard there was a Stannis chapter (or maybe Asha) preview up a some point, but now it's only the Arianne one... does anyone know where i might be able to find the old one?

That trailer is not nearly as compelling as that Seven Devils trailer from last season.

That trailer was how you got folks pumped.

Oh man, Brienne's headbutt at 0:52 looks absolutely brutal. And the bear! I'm so pumped for this season it's crazy.

I'm at work so just watched this without sound, shoot me if it's already so, but this trailer seems to me like the video clip for "the bear and the maiden fair" :p

Checked R.R Martin's blog for the first time in months, read last 20 blogs.

No one fucking cares about your football, write the next book before you die FFS.

Yeah, I can't read that blog, or Patrick Rothfuss' blog. They always talk about all the stuff they're doing BESIDES writing their next book like they should be.

Another trailer is up.

And this time around, I've subscribed to a cable package wherein I get to see this series only a day after its premiere. Sweet.

Curious why Joffrey is escorting Sansa since ...
unless they changed something for season 2, he should be engaged to Margaery Tyrell by this point.

Some shmuck reporter asked one of the actors if he could tell them anything of what to expect this season.

Maybe they should read a fucking book.

Finally found my copy of Storm of Swords! And with season 3 premiering tomorrow, there's just enough time to read it! Right? I'm sure Tywin and Stannis remain awesome!

It was a little slow and I'm terribly afraid that with so many stories going on at the same time and the limited # of episodes that they won't take the time to fully cater to establishing what is needed.

For example, they could have cut out the 2 minute whore scene on the docks and take those 2 minutes to properly flesh out Jon Snow's scene at the camp. I didn't appreciate the liberties they took there.
