I was pretty happy to realize that my alliance server and my horde server were 2 different blocks of servers. :)

A few Cataclysm updates from the massive patch they just released. Looks like the Worgen Males are getting a pretty large change in design. They removed the ability to alter hairstyles and replaced it with the ability to alter teeth and fangs, and also altered the model a bit to give a look much closer to the Worgen's older model, a much more feral and bestial look rather then the somewhat noble look they have in existing screenshots. Really, I am torn on which I prefer, but I think the update will ring more true to the spirit of the Worgen at the loss of some of that Gilnean quality.

I wish they would spend some of that quintillion dollars they rake in monthly to update the older models. Man, the orcs, humans, dwarves, trolls (especially the fucking trolls), tauren, undead, gnomes and night elves all look frigging awful next to blood elves and draenei who as I understand look awful compared to goblins and worgen.

Blizzard actually mentioned this during the Twitter chat in an unofficial answer later in the thread.

We definitely want to do it. Our artists would love to - believe me. The worgen and goblin took an enormous amount of art and animation time for Cataclysm. It's definitely on the list though. We recognize the problem with old models in shiny new armor.

That is my fault, I will fix you up when I get home. I tried to make viable ranks but the issue is when we add you to the guild you get put into the lowest rank. If I see you online later I will promote you, Dave or Baerdog can also do it. Though considering you would want 4 bags I am starting to wish I made higher bank permissions. You can ask another Black Knight to get you our two extra bags and trade them with you.
I tried putting my forum name and professions in the comments deal, but couldn't.

Piotyr, I still think Enchantertim is the best thing ever.

Also, I was talking to a good friend of mine yesterday and he will more than likely be reactivating his account and joining us on Ghostlands.

I've been a GL before and I loved, then hated it. When it was small it was great, but when we started growing came the drama. :tina:

I hated :tina:

That is why I want to keep it small. At the most I want around 20 people, enough for two 10-man groups that we can mess with and even mix up thanks to the new per-boss lockout system. In Cataclysm the loot between 10-man and 25-man is going to be the same, with the difference being quantity of loot dropped. This means we don't have to force ourselves into the 25-man where the logistics factor can often lead to more tension.

The biggest issue will be having a good class/role spread. I know I can fill one tank or healer role down the line, but no one else has offered just this yet. I don't want to force anyone to take roles they don't want, so I figured we can play it by ear until raids start to matter again, which won't be for a few months, and then discuss options.

Once Nihsen gets to level 80 I'd be willing to roll a War. I like tanking.

Actually, don't we have a LOT of DKs & Pallys? We should have tanking down fine. It's healing we need and I suck at that.

My internet pretty much excludes me from tanking and healing, and I've never even set foot in a ten-man so I have no idea if I'd even be able to cut it as DPS.

I actually find healing to be way easier then tanking.

Tanking you have to worry about aggro generation, strong EH, blowing lots of cooldowns when appropriate, picking up additional creatures that may spawn, keeping pace. You have to be totally aware of everything around you. Often when a healer or dps dies, a group can rebound. If a tank dies though, you might as well wipe. It is a lot of pressure.

Healing requires nearly as much spacial awareness, but the game itself often comes down to a glorified whack-a-mole. Get a mod like Healbot and such a comparison becomes even more apt, since you will basically be reacting to the health bars as they raise and drop, keeping an eye on the boss for larger attacks that may require you to begin casting a heal while the boss charges up his evil fist of terror attack.

If you wanted to try, make a healer and simply dungeon queue. I did that for my druid and learned a lot more about healing then the few times I tried it on my 80 shaman. I felt I had more room for error, allowing me to learn rather then being thrown into the end game.

DPS is always a no-brainer. Blow everything you have and stay out of the fire. ;)

I really enjoy healing, but I ended WoW on a terrible raid healing experience. I will plan on having a priest, though.

EDIT: Plus, with the changes they're planning on making regarding mana regen, the whack-a-mole mentality should be lessened somewhat.

EDIT 2: As for my healing strategies in raids, here's kind of how it evolved through the years:

- Release WOW (MC, ONY, BWL, ZG, AQ): If you are not the tank, do not expect heals. Each tank is assigned 1-2 healers. Healers will heal tanks on a small rotation when necessary to last the whole fight. If you pull aggro from the tank, you will be allowed to die so the healers don't pull aggro next.
- BC WOW 10 (GL, KZ): Each tank gets a healer, third healer when necessary is there to spot players as necessary. We'll heal you when we can, but an occasional bandage is nice.
- BC WOW (SSC, TK, BT): Each tank is assigned a dedicated healer, with an additional spot healer, with the raid getting maybe a healer or two (or not if we're stacking DPS to push a fight down). On AOE heavy fights, raid healing was more of a priority, obv.
- LK WOW (NAX, EE, ULD): Tank healers spam heals on tanks, raid healers spam AOE heals on raid, mana became much less of an issue, so as long as you weren't a total idiot you'd stay alive with regular healing. In emergency situations, switch heal targets to heavy damage.

EDIT 3: So I'm actually kind of hoping healing reverts to a release/early BC state so it's less like whack-a-mole triage and more strategic.

While I'm leveling retribution right now, I plan on having a protection spec for the end game as well. Really, once I get Aureon to Outland I'd be willing to level up another alt to fill any class gaps we may have. Except druid; I'd like to wait for Cata so I can roll one as a worgen.

If someone feels like giving me 1000g I could dual spec protection right now and have 58 levels of practice tanking before endgame. >_>

Edit: Nevermind, apparently I have to wait until lvl 40 to dual spec.

You can actually do ok tanking as ret while leveling. I was amazed at how many times a group wanted me to tank without a shield after the tank dropped out of the group. It actually worked just fine. The healer needs to know what they're doing and you have to be careful with pulls, but it worked. I even tanked Hellfire Ramps as ret with a 2-hander.

At that low of a level I don't think protection talents help out all that much. As long as your 1-hand weapon skill is high enough so you aren't missing every hit you should be fine.

I would like to be in your guild. What do you need the most in what faction on which server? I prefer healing, to be honest. ^.^
Ghostlands -> Alliance.

Not sure what we need right now. I'm working on seeing if I can get a Guild Mod for vBulletin for tracking.

Last I checked, we needed more paladins and DKs...

EDIT: Seriously, though, play what you enjoy. If it fills a niche, fine, but no worries either way.

Yup we will work it all out, we are a guild that wants to just enjoy ourselves, not freak out that everything is not perfect.

I am holding off. They already confirmed they are lowering the required level and the cost to allow people an easier time offspeccing at lower levels. Would rather save most of my gold for epic flying.:D

Oh God. *flashback twitches*
It will be a beautiful day when those skills are gone.
True horror story: I agreed to heal a Scholomance PUG once where the tank, after we entered the dungeon, decided he wanted to try out his new 1H. However, he didn't have an ounce of skill in the weapon. So, first pull, he misses, misses, misses, I heal him, pull aggro, fade, he misses, misses, misses, fade clears, mob comes back to me, wipe. Somehow, my fault for pulling aggro. He assumed I didn't take the threat talents which was why he wasn't holding threat.

EnchanterTim sees no need for an off spec, as fire is the only option.

Okay I logged on and changed a few things.

Everyone of Black Knight rank or higher can now promote, so if you invite someone you trust just promote them to Knight to give them nearly all the guild benefits. You will be unable to demote though, so if you find out the player is a drama hound or a troll, just tell myself or one of the officers to demote/kick. Eaten Minstrel will be kept around for the rare chance we may have to demote someone. Knight's can now edit public notes, but only Black Knight and above can edit officer notes. Everyone can see every note no matter the rank, so don't put something personal in there. :p

I changed up the banking slightly. As long as you are a Knight now, you can access the last tab and get five loots so newbies can stock on bags and the rabbit pet. The rest of the tabs are still lower until I figure out what a fair number will be for the various ranks.

O

Odie

I will be coming on later this weekend, been away from the computer since Mon. and leaving for some vaca later tonight.

I perfer to heal and have a 80 priest (holy/Shadow), and 80 Pally (Tank/heals). My DK is my fun DPS spec. I should be starting a Warrior come Cata but that i plan as a dps again.

Sounds good man.

So I took the dungeon LFG tool out for a spin last night, deciding to sign up as a tank for Deadmines and later Blackfathom Deeps. Holy cow, that thing works fast! I hardly had time to go repair after beginning my dungeon search before the game was telling me that my group was ready. I think this ease of finding groups is something I'm going to really like.
