Any man who tells you that putting a ring on his finger makes him invisible to women is lying. In fact, it attracts a certain kind of woman.

It is for some people. But there are just as many for whom that ring is a challenge to be conquered more than it is a deterrent.

I think I'm one of the odd ones then because if I were single and saw that a man had a ring on I would be all 'Nope, nope. Next. Not interested.'

Knowing a girl is married is a deterrent to me, but a ring isn't something I notice, and I've known too many girls who wear rings on that finger when single to view it as a definitive sign.

It's not just the challenge of it, but a woman who's had alot of instability in her life will actually find a married man more attractive because she sees he can make a commitment. Which is a weird sort of logic because if he cheats on his wife with her, that makes him non-commital but then again, these women aren't very smart.

I've always assumed that people who chase married folks do so partly because they don't want a commitment, and are only looking for a one night stand.
we're a.. I mean... They're a little more twisted than just that. Because these can lead to long term relationships that are kept on the down-low.

This only works because married people have a higher social value than single people. A married man/woman has proven themselves to be able to commit to a long term relationship, as well as being worthy enough to have someone else decide to do the same for them. In other words, they've proven themselves to be pre-datable.

It's sort of like picking a tank for your pick-up group: Do you go with the guy who doesn't have any of the pieces he needs from the dungeon or do you pick the guy who already has some? You pick the guy who already has some because they have already proven capable of doing it.

My evening will consist of nothing but strawberries, curling up on the couch (I hope you don't mind if I use yours stienman) and watching Deadliest Warrior. It's going to be a good night, I can tell.

Item 2: Chrome was going super slow today so I updated Firefox and have been using it all day. It's like visiting an old friend.

Item 3: Former co-worker from Dunkin' called me today. Apparently they have some new hires who aren't working out and they really want me to come back, with a promotion to boot! After over a year they still think highly of me! It's really flattering even though I doubt I'd take them up on that offer. I still need to think about it though. Assistant manager is a salaried position which would be more than I make now, and it's more management experience which would help me out later in life. BUT they really dicked me around when I worked for them before. I should consider all the pros and cons but my initial gut reaction is no.

That was my experience too! The final clincher was when I ran them side by side doing the same tasks and found that chrome with a single tab was taking up as much memory as firefox with eight tabs. Switched back, never regretted it. I wanted to like chrome but... it's still just not quite ready for prime time. Still better than IE though.

Fun fact - when Google was upgrading our radio automation systems back in 2006 (this was during their VERY BRIEF foray into radio automation/advertising), the guys doing the install were answering some of my questions about features the new automation seemed to have that sounded really good and useful but just didn't work right, and let slip that their inside-word for such things is "Chromage." System that dynamically distributes audio files where they are needed as needed and can operate independently in case of a node outage... but routinely gags on itself and crashes? Lots of chromage there.

For some reason, I was completely NOT in Christmas mood back around Christmas. Now, though? I've been listening for Christmas songs for the last 3 days, all the time. Makes no sense.

Anyway, Merry Christmas, folks. Also, Celtic Woman rocks.
