My new neighbor's Teacup Chihuahua decided to show my 80 lab that he's the boss. He went from the neighbor's house up to my yard barking the entire way. Ralph decided to run up and meet this new rat-dog. When the 3lb dog saw the 80lb dog approaching at high speed... that bark became a scream for the whole 100 yards back to his front step.

Then Ralph decided to eat the left over food from their pit-bull's food dish. That did not end well. At least Ralph is faster than that pit-bull.

A chihuahua and a pit bull. If I didn't know already, I could easily guess you lived in Texas.

I did leave out the part where when the Chihuahua came into the yard I threw Ralph's Frisbee toward the Chihuahua. And that is what sent him on the dead run towards the tiny dog.

Just got an email with the subject "Save Now on Mike Tyson and Scooby-Doo Live!"

...kinda disappointed that it's two different shows.

It's SOOOO hard for me not to go into the Walking Dead thread.....HNnnn.

I'm halfway through (maybe a little more) season 2 and I haven't been spoiled yet. Which is really rare for me. Normally when I start a show, I get so nervous and anxious, I have to spoil myself or I won't watch it, which is also when I never actually follow shows. I wait until the season is done.

But yeah, I really really want to go look in that thread, but I'm sure there are spoilers for season 3...

And I'm realizing that the older I get, the more excited/fangirl-y I get. It worries me.

I am currently in Bremen, Germany, in the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in. I'm only in the city for three nights and its business, and tomorrow night I have dinner with the boss. So even though I'm jetlagged and tired as hell, I am going to go shower, make a cup of coffee, (finish watching that episode of the Wire on my phone), and go find something interesting to do. There must be a museum or something nearby I can check out.

Bremen? Pfui. Should have gone to Hamburg. Anyway for some Bremer culture and lore I recommend the Focke-Museum. It is located at Schwachhauser Heerstr. 240,28213 Bremen.

Didn''t really have a choice where I was going. It's a business trip. That does not seem to be very close by. After a quick walk around, there really isn't much within walking distance except bars and a casino. The closes museum is the House of Science. Wound up restinf off my long flight tonight anyway. Walked around, went to the hotel bar and ate and now its time for bed. Hopefully my boss doesn't need me for anything Wednesday night, because tomorrow we have a business type dinner and Thursday morning it's back on the plane. Wednesday I might be able to go and actually take in some stuff. Our business trip is getting kind of real rushed though, so this might wind up being STRICTLY business.
Close by are two theatres (The Musical Theater Bremen and the Fritz Theater), and that seems it. A little bit further (but really, not all that far. Just far enough I'd have to take a cab because it's cold here right now) are a few other attractions, including the House of Science.


And to head off any confusion as to my weird business trip in Germany; Although I graduated from animation and have worked in Animation, I am not currently working as an animator. Technically my job title is graphic designer but I don't think that really covers what I do.

You really picked a bad time to visit Germany.Usually around this time of the year we have Spring,but for some reason it just started snowing again.It is really annoying.

We need a teeny-tiny victory thread, like the Whine Like a Baby thread for ranting... (no, we really don't). Teeny-tiny victory of the night? Successfully replaced a stove burner that I wouldn't have had to replace if I'd been paying better attention last week and not turned on the burner that had the removable plastic bottom tray of my wife's Keurig brewer sitting on it. There was no getting that plastic off that burner.

I dunno... I think replacing a stove burner is smaller than "minor victory." I mean, I'd consider a minor victory to be rewiring a stove to fix a burner. This was just unscrewing a couple of screws and removing a ceramic insulator, and the three of them when a new burner was in place.

Got some news today and I honestly don't know if it's good or bad. My contract ends in 17 days. I'm not being fired, my boss has nothing against me or the work that I've been doing, he just finagled some room into one of his budgets to hire an FTE to replace my contract. On the one hand, that's $2.5k per month in take home pay that I'm not going to be bringing in; but on the other hand, I do qualify for unemployment insurance, and while I'm not working I'll be saving a butt ton of money on gas, food, and probably cigarettes. Like, $500 - $700 per month. And, when I'm not looking for work, I'll be able to clean and organize the apartment to get ready for work; and if a job opening comes up in Wisconsin, I'll be able to take it pretty much immediately, instead of necessarily having to wait until August. Plus, I won't be dealing with dead people's relatives and their lawyers all the time, and that's enough to make anyone feel better.

Yeah I'm a bit worried about my flights to and from Frankfurt tomorrow. I hear the runway is operational again right now. I'm hoping the weather stays this clear for another day.

I looked up average temperatures before leaving, and average in Bremen and Toronto this time of year are not that different, so I packed for spring weather. I packed probably a little too lightly, actually, because while Germany is having a sudden bout of winter in the midst of March, Toronto was 13C when I left on Sunday. Also I am going to Saudi next, where it's roughly 30C average right now and so I didn't want to pack anything heavier than my light spring jacket.

I am wrapping up some stuff in my hotel room for work right now, but am heading out in probably 30minutes or so to at the very least look aroundthe Marktplatz and Schnoor. The Focke museum is a bit far, as is the Becks tour, which was another candidate on my list. Maybe my flight to Frankfurt will be cancelled tomorrow and I'll have the time.

99 weeks?! Dear god, I hope not. For one, I'm really not sure if I could even transfer my unemployment insurance pay from Washington to Wisconsin when we move. Also, I'd already been planning for the possibility of being temporarily unemployed once we get to Wisconsin, and the cost of living there is lower enough compared to where we're living now that it won't be a problem - so I wouldn't need the gubmint's money then even if I could take it. And third, my first year and a half of unemployment was bad enough, I really couldn't go through that again. I've already been circulating my resume through the greater Milwaukee area, hitting up all of the job boards that I can find, and actively applying for jobs (because I figured even before finding out that my contract was ending that it was just a contract position and if I was offered permanent employment I could pick up and leave). Fourthly, there's a reason that my wife and I are looking to buy a house with 5 - 10 acres of property, and specifically 5 to 10 acres of farmland (zoning wise) property, and that's because we're planning on putting in an apiary and then a commercial meadery once the apiary has time to get to full honey production (which takes about 2 to 3 years).

So no, there certainly shouldn't be 99 weeks of me living off the government's tit. I'd go insane with boredom and possibly shoot myself before that happened.

I know that feel, bro. The little town where I grew up had its post office right next to an old school soda fountain that also sold those microwavable Red Baron pizza singles and cheeseburgers/chicken sandwiches/etc. Basically anything that came wrapped in plastic that could be microwaved quickly. So everyone from the high school would head over to the Fountain and get a pizza or a burger and then sit at the counter and eat and have a hand-dipped milkshake or an ice cream soda. Then, we'd inevitably graduate and find all sorts of reasons why we needed to go to the post office.
