What are you playing?

I found the easiest way to deal with him is to not stop running, never jump and only attack when his shield is red or blue and when it's red, cancel out of the uppercut with the roll immediately so movement is only interrupted momentarily.

So, having played quite a bit of Skyrim over the last few days, I've decided I'm ready go start modding. Nothing major, and definitely no changes to quests or gameplay. But I did install a few body and armor replacers, and most notably I installed SkyUI, the interface replacer.

My thoughts? Why the hell didn't I install SkyUI from the start? Seriously, this thing blows the original UI out of the water.

I have Skyrim, and a pc that can run it, but haven't installed it yet. Should I really jsut install a UI mod straight out of the box (ok, ok, Steam executable :p) or play it for a short while before giving it a go? I know the UI was trashed almost universally as "too console-y and annoying, but pretty"...

I don't know anyone that's ever called the UI pretty.

Yes, you should install SkyUI right away. It changes nothing other than the ui and menu system in the game, and it is a hugely welcome change. You'll thank me when you're trying to sort through your inventory.

Agreed. There is nothing lost by installing SkyUI right off the bat, while much is gained.

The only reason not to install it right away is so you know what the shitty base UI is like, and you can then know how privileged you are as the PC gaming master race.

I was raging against the UI even before I installed SkyUI. Why can't I organize items in containers based on their category? Why does the game sometimes fail to recognize where I'm clicking?

As my final present to myself this Christmas, I picked up Valdis Story on Steam.

Fun as fuck, hard as balls. Interesting mix of jump puzzles/races for extra items and Mega Man-style bosses (learn patterns, wait to hit, etc). Currently two characters to play as, with the other two coming soon as free DLC. It's Metroidvania meets "Goddamnit fine I'll Retry again."

So I didn't even realize this till about 5-6 hours in, but one of the reasons this is so ball-busting is you have zero invincibility frames. If you don't learn to love and abuse your dodge, enemies will juggle you like a Tekken fighter.

Ecco the Dolphin: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEE*

*translation from dolphin: I've entered the Open Ocean, AKA, fucking shark world. How can anyone beat this without cheating?

I've only played Ecco, but never got very far until now. I'm hoping they'll put Tides of Time on re-release as well.

I did beat Open Ocean; now it's time to ice slide in search of a glyph among horrible iceberg spiders.

I vaguely remember the sequel. I jumped really high, than everything exploded and I ran away in terror because I had no idea what was going on. Ah, Latchkey.

That's the first one.
Really? Probably misremembered cos we also had a Sega Saturn and assumed it was the sequel. ALSO- somebody brought Night trap with it once. I emphasize the once, because somebody probably saw the scene where the one chick was murdered by the ninja vampire dude.

For most of that generation, I was a Genesis kid, so I beat the hell out of the Ecco games :p

I was a Genesis kid too, but I had a hell of a time with Ecco. The beginning and the music were so sad that I wanted him to get his family back, but I just didn't have the skill to make it happen. Even when I found passwords to later levels, I couldn't beat them.

So yesterday I (almost accidentally) finished the primary quest of Fallout 3, and I'm a little pissed about the ending I got .

Sending a super mutant recently proven to be able to withstand great amounts of radioactivity instead of committing suicide doing it myself gets me a reprimand?

For a game that seems to reward wanting to play intelligently, that felt unfair.

Thankfully, I have the ultimate edition of Injustice coming for Christmas. And no, I'm not going to play you guys. I haven't played a real fighting game since MKII, so I have no misconceptions that I will be any good. Some of you talked it up enough to make me want to try it though.

Got to Chapter 2 of Torchlight 2 and just had to put it down. It's just not doing it for me. I mean the game is GOOD, I can see why so many people love it. It's a VAST improvement over the original. I think my problem is that the main characters have zero personality/story. Without that I'm kind of bored just hunting down the Alchemist when I don't know the drive or purpose of my own character.

In it's place I've decided to tackle the ENTIRE Assassin's Creed series. I played the first part when it was originally released and loved it. Never played the second due to MMO commitments and now that I don't have them anymore I can finally play this series to it's fullest. I have every device needed to play through most of the storyline driven games (PC, DS, PSP) so I'm going to play them (mostly) in storyline order. I've already restarted the first one just as a refresher.

I pretty much dropped TERA within the first week of playing it. I just can't the complete lack of storyline in this game and there's just too much -porn-y- outfits going on. I like looking at half-naked women as much as the next person but it's kind of a sea of it in that game and just ends up being a turn off.

In it's place, since I finished WoW and am trying to get my MMO fix, I've gone back to FFXIV a game that I love very very dearly and only stopped playing because of the Siege of Ogrimmar patch in WoW. I'm pretty much 100% into FFXIV until the next WoW xpac's release (at least 6 months). So here's hoping I can at least finish the main storyline by then.

I'll be gorging on some video games for the next few weeks. I only picked up Mirror's Edge so far in the steam sales for 5.00. I had it for the PS3, but I wanted to see how it looked with the full physx incorporation that they did. It looks pretty as hell on the PC. I may even reup my WOW account, but probably not, because I can't really afford the extra 15.00/m right now as I'm getting some dental work done that I have to pay for out of pocket.[DOUBLEPOST=1387602612,1387602537][/DOUBLEPOST]
Got GOTY Arkham City as an early Xmas gift. It's pretty good so far, though I'm only to the Museum and I'm already tired of gun-toting thugs.
Get the upgrade for the quick grapple disarm and disarm finisher as soon as you can. The former takes out guns from a distance, and the latter completely dismantles the gun so it can't be picked up by another thug.

Yeah I have the disarm, have to pick up the dismantle. It's mainly getting them to split up enough that I can take one down without getting all swiss cheese'd before I can get back in the shadows.

Oh, I thought you meant fighting. In the predator modes, it's all about sneaking and setting up individual takedowns. For those, what I mentioned is useless. For Silent Predator, try to get the sonic batarang for distraction, and try to do your quietest takedowns first, such as sneaking up from behind and such. In those stages, you shouldn't be getting shot at all, or at the very most only once or twice. You'll want to sneak up behind to start off with because once they discover that you're around from louder takedowns such as inverted takedowns, they will start to group up and that just spells trouble all around.

You need to be patient and plan out your attacks using detective mode. NEVER use the instant knockout when doing a silent takedown because it alerts everyone in the area.

Smoke bomb is really powerful too. You basically have to think "What would batman do?" A group of three armed thugs roaming together are dangerous, but if you drop a smokebomb right on them, you can swoop in and do stealth takedowns right in the middle of the confusion, take out all three, and get out just as the smoke clears.

Oh yeah, when I first played, I only ever used the smoke bomb defensively if I got caught. They're much better used on offense. Give it a try, it's great fun to smoke bomb and then drop in like the goddamn batman.

Hell yeah it is. I, for whatever reason, was only using them on the reactive button, so I didn't know what I was missing. Stringing guys up is super satisfying, too.

If you can lure a thug underneath a hanging guy, you can use your batarang to drop the unconscious thug on his head.

FYI, this issue is fixed with the Broken Steel DLC. Broken Steel also extends the main storyline, and allows you to play on after finishing the main quest.

Decent voice acting, but I've played WoW already, thanks. I mean it looks like they just copied the game graphics over and slapped 4e on it.

Monaco

Played this earlier today with @Jay and @AshburnerX. And I'll be honest. I had almost no sweet clue what to do. They both seemed to pick up the gist of the game much quicker, but I felt like I was falling behind or making a mess of things by accidentally setting off alarms or alerting a guard.

Still, pretty fun with some clever top down game play. Ash called it an 8-bit Payday and I'd say that's close enough to the truth.

I'm still playing Marvel Heroes. They've been consistantly adding new heroes and are starting to add villains. Most recently Gambit, Ghost Rider and Loki. Upcoming heroes are: Nova, Starlord, Magneto, Juggernaut, Nightcrawler, Doctor Strange and Venom.

They're also constantly adding new content. Just recently, they released a whole new chapter: Seige. Which takes place in Asgard. I know I'm pissing in the wind recommending it, but it's really a much more polished game than it was when it was released and it's free to play. Unfortunatly, it's still suffering from initial bad reviews ( because it wasn't very good at launch) and the still pretty high price for new heroes (which can now be farmed pretty easily as opposed to only being able to purchase them or get a lucky drop at launch).

One issue I run into is the crafting system. The materials used vary based on the origin of the character (genes for Mutants, mystical stuff for magic users, nanotech fibers for tech based heroes). The problem is that a huge chunk of the roster are mutants so I have a crapton of the crafting materials for other heroes, but am constantly running low on X-genes for my mutant heroes.[DOUBLEPOST=1387691174,1387690683][/DOUBLEPOST]On a completely seperate note, I still have an invitation available for the closed beta of Infinite Crisis, the DC superhero MOBA. If anyone wants to get in on that, let me know and I get get you a beta invite key (I only have the one).
