Been more than a week since a map. Any update? I'm curious what people have been doing.

8 is the number of zoom levels, not the level of zoom, itself.

Comparing to past server tectonicus maps, Pat, it looks like just the default zoom levels.

It didn't look like mine, though. In fact, the closest zoom level on the HF map looks to be the same size as the second-to-closest zoom on mine. That's why I was asking (my first overly ambitious project was 8 levels, starting at 12).

Hrm, well, all I can tell you is that zoom levels 1-6 exactly match the zoom levels 1-6 of my caprica map... and my map doesn't have 7 or 8 (would have taken too long to upload/used too much space)

The zoom level is 24, so not the default. It saved me 3 gb to do that, plus a whole lot of render time.

This map does help me see what my next project will be. My village has a bit of a bend to it. Time to move the lake and expand the village.

I also added memory to the server today. I didn't get as much put in as I wanted to though. There are 3 sets of memory slots in my server, all of which I had filled with 1gb each giving me 6 gb. I thought I could add 3 sets of 2gb and end up with 12 gb. Apparently not. I can't use the 3rd set of slots with my new memory, so I ended up with only 8 instead of 12. Still better than what I had. When money gets a bit more plentiful I may try to max it out with 4gb sticks if we need it, giving it 16 gb.[DOUBLEPOST=1389727520,1389727482][/DOUBLEPOST]

So only the above ground ones show? Or how do you view enable them?

You can enter text on a sign in a specific manner or by using the #VIEW tag which preloads the map with a mouseover view of a point of interest at that location as if you were standing at the specified location and looking at the specified angle.

You might not need a script. Some FTP clients, like smartFTP, have a "synchronize" mode that will check hash values and only upload those that are different.

Nice. I'll have to check that out.

On a different note, someone must be screwing with me. I went out to check on my animals and all my cows were smooshed into the chicken pen with all the chickens. There will be no cow chicken love on my watch.

I'm for resetting the end after he's killed. It would be nice to let other people try to kill him on their own if they want. I know you can make good xp farms from killing enderman there, but I think keeping the dragon up for others to experience is a more important.

I'm of the opinion to schedule a time this weekend for us all to make an attempt at it, and it's "dead" as a server. And that's it. And then we can try our hands at killing a Wither or something, since that's after that in the achievement list.

"Enter the End exit portal which appears after the dragon's death. Entering End Portal block hacked to the game via world editor software also counts even before killing the dragon. PC"

Pretty sure it's for going through the portal that gets created upon its death, but that's from reading about it, I've never actually done it.

I don't care, myself. It doesn't do anything, as far as I know, and I probably won't have a lot of time to play now that the semester has started, anyway.
