It wasn't obvious to her I don't think she knew about the first part.It was obvious. He's been rather maudlin of late. Time hasn't yet healed that wound.

It was obvious that she didn't know. I can see how this could be misconstrued and sound snippy, so it has been clarified in my original post. Apparently I'm not obvious. It wasn't obvious to her I don't think she knew about the first part.
I did my taxes a few weeks ago, and let me tell you... getting laid off last year finally delivered! Big tax return! I mean, it in no way comes close to making up for all of that lost income, but it's nice to be getting back a whole lot more than I thought I would (and with the tax credits, even more than I paid in.)Time to do taxes, woo!
This is the first year we've owed the federal government money. It's only $2, but we gained several hundred every other year. Of course, this is the first year both my wife and I have been fully employed all 12 months since 2010.
The moral is--stay unemployed! Oh, and have a baby. You can get a few thousand extra for having a baby. I totally get why all the kids are doing that these days.
Add up everything you spent on the baby, including hospital and doctor bills, then compare it to the CTC. I promise you spent more on the baby than you saved.Time to do taxes, woo!

Thanks for the offer. Who knows, I might take you up on it sometime. I'm a bit of a stone's throw away, actually, but what's a few hour drive in Texas, right? Your guess is probably based on my moderate familiarity level of houston geography. I have relatives there I visit semifrequently.[DOUBLEPOST=1393706110,1393705995][/DOUBLEPOST]@GasBandit I'm pretty sure you're nearby. If you need someone to hang out with let me know. I won't even let it slip that you're actually two chimpanzees in a man suit.
Congratulations on planning your taxes correctly this year! I always try to do my tax refund like a golf score - the closer to 0, the better. I know it feels good to get a big refund, but the truth is that was just a big fat interest-free loan you made to the government.Time to do taxes, woo!

I'm having to remind myself that I need to be responsible and not splurge on a ps4/new gaming rig/whatever/whoamIkiddingI'mgoingtoanywayI'd rather it this way, because if I'm doing the savings over the year, that's something I'll be disciplined about, whereas if we get a big refund, we're probably going to make a big purchase we don't need.
That's been us each year we got a payout.I'm having to remind myself that I need to be responsible and not splurge on a ps4/new gaming rig/whatever/whoamIkiddingI'mgoingtoanyway
Mine too. Which reminds me. All of you probably need to buy a new iPod and google glass. No particular reason. Just heard they were cool.My IRA can tell the difference, however.
Is it possible that she's just trying to get you not to move? So, on accepting the job and planning out my move in the next two months, the gf who had decided we were going to split in the event I moved, informed me that she's 3 weeks pregnant.
So yeah. Hooray?
I'm relatively certain that's a thought in her head. I did ask that she go to the hospital and get bloodwork and came back as a weak positive, so it is verified. She intends to keep it because she wasn't able to keep her last two...Is it possible that she's just trying to get you not to move?
THAT IS NOT A WHINE
Well, I mean, it could be. Given the recent divorce, I imagine Adam wasn't ready for that serious a commitment so soon. Can't speak for him, of course, but that was my thought.THAT IS NOT A WHINE
I think she meant that he could have put that in one of the more serious rant threads.Well, I mean, it could be. Given the recent divorce, I imagine Adam wasn't ready for that serious a commitment so soon. Can't speak for him, of course, but that was my thought.
This, being a kid who grows up with separated parents can suck but being a kid who grows up with parents together in a loveless, trapped, resentful marriage can suck a lot worse."Not allowed?" Is there some weird facet of Canadian law that says fathers can never ever have custody? I know of at least 3 dads who have full custody of kids. Or is this just something she said? Also, you don't *have* to live as a family, there is such a thing as visitation. Don't limit your options to needing to be together if you want to be in the kid's life.
Fixed that for ya. I hate the Oscars.Fuck are these Oscars needless.
