Minor victory thread

I gotta disagree Mr. Referee. She obviously tried to avoid contact at the end there. It wasn't a card-worthy offense. She didn't deserve that Yellow!

Just got accepted to grad school. I'm counting this as a minor victory since it's not a great grad school. But hey, it's close and most of the classes are at night.

Sold my house! Sold my house! Sold my house! Sold my house! Sold my house! Sold my house! Sold my house! Sold my house!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS

My family are monopoly addicts. My uncle was New Mexico's state monopoly champion. We have custom rules and stuff when we play. And yes, they're all the kind of people who keep 4 houses on their property instead of going hotel, just to tie them up so others can't build.

That's a perfectly acceptable strategy :D

Actually, having looked it up, turns out that IS by design from MB. I always assumed the rules allowed you to use agreed upon markers to sub for houses if you ran out, but nope.

But the other rules my family played by...
All monetary payments are to be rounded up to be divisible by 20 (IE, $20 is the smallest denomination of cash, eliminating a lot of paper)
Using 4 dice instead of 2, with two pair needed on a roll to go again, and 3 of a kind goes backwards and gets the "middle money."
Oh yeah, the "middle money." There's always a minimum of $100 in the middle of the board, and all taxes, fees and bail goes into the middle. Landing on free parking also gets the middle money.
Any unowned property that is landed on, but not bought, is immediately brought to auction by the bank with no reserve - but the person who declined to buy it can't bid.
Players can choose where they start, and you get paid when you leave go, not when you land on go (unless specifically told to do so by a card).
Players may only build houses/hotels at the end of their turn (to alleviate buildup-roll-hit-selloff turns)

Oh sure, but only if they get to play by their own rules.

It's reactionary. All those laws and regulations from a board game had a profound effect. Little GB emerged from the wreckage of Monopoly with a burning hatred of regulation. It also explains the metal top hat.

Actually, and perhaps unsurprisingly, I was usually the artillery.

Signed up for the Runor Dye fun 5k. It's on my birthday this year. :) Also, our team is Wings of Freedom and we're going to wear t-shirts with the Attack on Titan Scouting Legion/Survey Corps logo on it. It's going to be a blast! (In case you have no idea what the logo looks like, see the spoiler.)

I love these rainy summer days. In my "must have as much fun as possible" frenzy during these weeks, it's nice to indulge my indoorsy side and enjoy a book or some anime reruns. No gazing outside thinking, "i really should take a walk or go swimming..."

I've been into ultralight camping lately. I made a homemade alcohol stove out of two Coke cans and a coat hanger. It boiled 2 cups of water using 1/2 oz of alcohol in about 5 minutes. And it collapses to about 3/4" high. I will try a few alternative designs when I drink more Coke.

Yeah, I've looked at those. They're big though. The soda can stove is, well, smaller than a soda can, and fits in my 2 cup pot/cup with room for a fuel bottle to spare.

Hmm. Dunno how it would work to put your kit inside the rocket stove itself. I guess the weight savings with rocket stoves is that you don't need to pack your own fuel (assuming sufficient branches, etc).

Been hanging out with an old friend a lot since the break-up. I keep thinking she's sending me signals and being much flirtier than normal but I think the wound is too fresh and I'm too out of it in the head to act on anything. Either way, the time we spend together leaves me feeling really good.

She's one of the only women I know with a sense of humour fucked up enough to make me laugh out loud sincerely.
