I just played a 5 hour match with my brother. Good times. 2v2v2 w/hard AI.
Dammit, Age of Mythology. Why can't you be cheaper? I mean 40% off? This is a Steam sale. Hell, why were you priced so high in the first place? It's not fair. I want to play you so badly, but you cost too much.

Huh, I'm missing E, Q, U and X.
I'm starting to think the Steam Summer Adventure is rigged. The winning teams win by such a HUGE margin one day and then suddenly drop to last place the day after. Right now, Pink is so far in the lead that it's impossible for any other team to win. My team (Red) won under huge margins, as well, but are now in last place. Maybe they're doing this in order to give each team a win?

The entire event is kind of pointless. Because of how rewards are doled out, there is no incentive to get points unless your team is in the lead. A badge made on a losing day is a badge wasted. Worse, the chances of getting a real prize are infinitesimal. Only 30 people who contributed get prizes, everyone else gets cards. So... not only does the way it operate discourage you from helping your team win, helping your team win is pointless because your chances of getting anything are nil. Sure, you can get an in-game item but if it's not an item for a game you play, what's the point?
And yes, it's apparent they've started giving some teams a head start. Might have been nice if they had done it on the day my Team won... Red was barely ahead by 17k points for most of the day because everyone was trying to steal points from us.
If you haven't gotten BattleBlock Theater (you spicy little fart!) or Castle Crashers yet, they're like $3.75 each, or I think a bundle of both is 4-5 bucks. Castle Crashers is a fun hack/slash, and BattleBlock is not only a great platformer, but it's hilarious, too.
Dragon Age: Origins (and awakenings, but especially origins) is a fantastic game, a throwback to classic PC rpgs, and solid proof that a game company can make a hit and completely fail to realize why (hint: dragon age 2 was none of these things... in fact, the opposite)

Agreed. Origins is basically an epic fantasy tale that tickled all of my fantasy and Bioware tropes. There's not much that's innovative in terms of gameplay, storyline, etc. (Seriously, I can't begin to count the times I went, "Hey, that sounds very similar to *thing* from Mass Effect!") But it all comes together to form a very immersive and entertaining experience.
And then Mass Effect 3 began to pillage Dragon Age for ideas. Bioware was beginning to eat itself apparently before a bunch of people left the company.

Just to be that guy, I got real sick of DA:Origins real fast. Specifically the party's junior high politics/drama. I realize that's supposed to be part of the game.
In other news, Fallout New Vegas ultimate edition is 5 bucks (community choice)! Finally picked it up, maybe I'll play it someday.

Yeah, it took awhile after EA acquired them for the EA taint to fully sink in, but Dragon Age was possibly the last game they made before that taint fully took hold. Dragon Age: Origins was popular because it was a love letter to games of old, like Baldur's Gate, with strategic combat, brutal realism, and a dark and interesting world. Dragon Age 2 was like a Michael Bay movie, nothing but over the top explosions and no substance, attempting to appeal to the lowest common denominator. They basically tried to turn it into Call of Duty.

I finally said screw it to the whole card collection thing and sold off my remaining steam cards. Seems like a good decision, I've basically "won" a few free games of my choosing by selling enough to buy a few lower priced games with my steam wallet funds. Seems much more efficient then trying for a chance to earn some by winning points.
GOG's decided to move the speed of their sales up a bit. The amount of flash sales is getting ridiculous.
Omerta: City of Gangsters (with DLC) for free for about 8 more hours.
Don't know if the Blackwell bundle became community choice on Steam, if it iddn't, it's now $2.99 on GOG.
Civilization: Alpha centauri is now $1.49.
Hotline Miami $1.99.
Ocotodads $4.99, which I -think- as cheaper than Steam's sale, though I guess it'll be the same for some of you (Steam still considers € = $, while GOG will convert prices, so for some games this can make a big difference)

And it was only free if you clicked on the flash sale, buried in the midst of all the other flash sales, on the front page. Going to the game's page, even while it was still free, showed a 50%-off price.
Welp, the first four Blackwell games are $0.49 a piece. Anyone who has ever enjoyed an adventure game should buy them.
Also, because Dave Gilbert is a cool dude and deserves your pittance.

GOG.com is currently giving away a better free game. Torchlight can be found about halfway down their homepage. Only an hour left as I post this, though.

For 7.50 Tom Clancy is worth it. It's pretty similar to XCOM in terms of game play.
With Shovel Knight dropping in two days, I have reservations even for a good game since I won't be playing it. That said, by August I will have beaten Shovel Knight and will be in drought again until Smash Bros, and in that month or two I'll be kicking myself for not having taken advantage of this now.
If you were a big fan of old XCOM, I can understand not liking Enemy Unknown.
I haven't played old XCOM since I was 10, and I couldn't wrap my head around it, so nothing got in the way of my love of Enemy Unknown (and later adoration for Enemy Within).
