Depends on the cat. One of ours would just furiously lick whatever was closest. I'd walk up to someone while cradling him in my arm and then, when I was within range, I would furiously start scratching his back. Keth would immediately lunge out and start furiously belt-sanding whatever limb was closest. I called it the "lick gun."
