Video Game News and Miscellany

Yes, Legends was a fantastic game series that didn't sell because of lack of advertising. It's unique (for the time and series) story emphasis and memorable characters stole the show in a game that could have been ripped straight from an anime.

Honestly? I'm mad that they cancelled Legends 3. However, they could regain some of that good will by doing SOMETHING with the franchise. Hell, why not do a comic/manga? The current Archie Comics Mega Man series is AMAZING, even better than the Sonic series they've been doing for years (and they are getting a cross-over series soon too). The fans might not be happy they aren't getting the game, but they would still love to know what happens. Mega Man Volnutt has been on the moon for over a decade!
I know this is an old post to dredge up, but it seems X is now in the Archie Comics for classic Mega Man.

I just discovered these (as seems to be the case with many things). Just bought the first TPB and am adding the rest to my Amazon wishlist. Trying to decide if I also want the Sonic cross-over. Sonic's not been well these days.

The Sonic comics aren't too bad, as they don't really tie in with anything anymore. The crossover event is a fun read, especially Wily and Robotnik constantly bickering over who's the bigger genius (and why everything has to have a mustache/be egg-shaped).

You know what's hilarious.

Tomb Raider was a multi-platform game that sold like 3 million copies and was considered an underperforming failure by Squeenix.

YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SELL 3 MILLION COPIES ON THE BONE.

Remember when they didn't suck so hard? They were the shit in the 90ies.

They are so bad it's sad now. Just sell your IPs to someone else. Please. You suck.

As others have reminded me, the company we're nostalgic for is Squaresoft.

Square-Enix is the horror it transformed into.

And the mystifying thing is Enix made good games. Square made good games. Put them together, they make shit.

(Dragon Quest series, Grandia, ActRaiser, Star Ocean)

(TIL: Star Ocean was not a sequel to StarTropics)

I'm surprised no one's tried bringing Star Tropics back to life. Then again, there are a lot of IPs I'm surprised haven't returned. Battletoads is another.

As for this Tomb Raider news? It makes me a little sad. I liked the first one. It wasn't a perfect game, but I enjoyed playing through it. Unless this is a TIMED exclusive, I won't ever get to play it.

And no, I won't buy an Xbox. Ever.

Literally the only game in 2014 on the Xbox One to sell more than a million units is fucking Titanfall. That's it. JESUS SQUEEX.

It is mystifying, but I think it had to do with changes in priority and leadership.

Oddly enough, apparently Dragon Quest is as good as ever, but they're uncertain they're going to keep bringing it outside Japan. So, you know, we only get Square-Enix's horror show like the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy.

Norman Reedus is a big fucking downside for me too. He was a complete shithead to my friend at Calgary Expo and just seeing his ugly mug leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Wow, the fucking last thing Silent Hill needs is Hideo Kojima (and I fuckin' love Metal Gear).
We've gotten nothing but shit from that series for years. If we can get Del Toro on board... someone who KNOWS his horror... I think it's a good sign, even if it means we get some Kojima weirdness. Besides, Kojima has wanted to do something non-Metal Gear related for years and now is his chance.

I didn't say Del Toro was bad, just Kojima. Silent Hill has enough baggage without Hideo Kojima's fetishes.
