[PC Game] World of Warcraft: Catch All Thread

We're also winding down to the end of an xpac. When MoP came out there were lots more in the starting zones.... at least until you could do dungeons.
Even then, it will be more people doing new content than actually starting new characters. You only have to go to a barber shop to change your looks if you want to with the new models.

I was specifically referring to when they added Pandas. I do not expect it to get better for WoD.
Yeah, no new classes or races, plus the addition of Character Boosts. The one upside of not having any zone events/quests like Rift/FFXIV, I guess, since all the lowbie zones are consistently empty.

Those are all new events/quests, so really a majority of old players probably haven't seen them all. Cata massively overhauled 90% of Eastern Kingdoms/Kalimdor, and for the most part the old questlines are changed or just plain gone.

That being said, at least for me, I did send a couple characters through most of it already, so if I had to level again it'd be much the same as Bowie described. Thankfully I have every class to 90 now save for an 87 Pally.
... and I think I may have spoken too soon. Tried a blood elf warlock today. Just spent like 10 hours in Ghostlands because it's FULL of shit to do and none of it was fun. BC content at it's finest.

So, is this the first xpac where they're not adding any new races or classes? Just new end content?
Well this one's more about the races getting makeovers so they don't look like something out of a PS1 game anymore. Also, they're doing a "stat squish" in order to keep items/stats from continuing into ridiculous numbers (you could easily get well over 20k of a stat and some classes were hitting in millions of damage on rare occasion). There's a lot being revamped from a tech standpoint, so I can see why a new class/race isn't on the docket this time around.

That's not really a part of the expansion, though. It's modernizing the game because the older models and stat systems are really showing their age, but that would happen regardless, and players would experience it whether they bought the expansion or not. It just seems odd that there's nothing super enticing about this expansion to draw in players other than end game content, whereas every expansion prior had new stuff at multiple levels, and convinced players to make new characters with the new races/classes.

I think the issue is that the race options are dwindling. The Horde can always get Ogres, but short of making something up for the expansion, what would you give Alliance? Maybe doing humanoid dragons for both sides instead?

As for class, what would you suggest?

Really, ever since Blizzard made almost every spec viable in both PvP and PvE, there are closer to 34 classes than 11.

Honestly... I always wanted to play Naga, but I don't think it's going to happen any more than Murlocks would.
Kobolds!

YOU NO TAKE CANDLE![DOUBLEPOST=1410322052,1410321885][/DOUBLEPOST]For serious though, don't you think it's about time that the gnomes take back Gnomeregan. Just flush that instance down the toilet where it belongs. If achievement folks will get bent out of shape about it, just get rid of the achievements related to that dungeon altogether. EVERYONE hates Gnomeregan. On the Horde side, there's no reason they couldn't build up the new troll starting area into an actual city.

Graphic enhancements have been xpac content before, like in EverQuest 1. I think the major "hey look" of this xpac is getting to experience things in old Draenor, around characters that we've never really gotten to interact with before from other WC titles. It might not draw in a lot of new blood, but it has a shot at pulling back veterans.

Garrisons are probably the biggest non-endgame addition, though they do serve as a hub for endgame activities too(dailies and whatnot).

Well... the major character enhancement update for EQ was Shadows of Lucelin which introduced the Vah Shir (cat race) and the Beastlord class.

Ah, that's true, I forgot about them. Haven't played EQ1 since the days of forwarding phone calls and asking permission to get on the internet.

To be fair, since the beginning of MoP that is what they have been doing with races anyways. Pandaren for instance don't require you to own MoP, nor do Worgen/Goblin require Cata anymore. The only thing they have kept expansion exclusive is the new continents, quests, and classes.

Really, the big thing taking away the new race is the character models, since they want to replace nearly all of them before release (BE is the only one that didn't make it), while the big thing preventing a new class is Garrisons, which are pretty involved once you try them out.

I'd love to play more of this but I'm getting weird latency problems all of the sudden. Over the last two days, I'll just get cut off from the Blizzard servers, but everything else net wise is fine.

I had that happen the first day I started playing again, and was wondering if Blizzard had really let their servers go.

Then I read that they were getting massively DDOSed that day. Haven't had a problem since.

It's only been the last two days. Any other time it's been fine. But since everything recent of theirs requires direct interaction with their servers (so no Hearthstone or Diablo 3 ether), I kind of just threw up my hands with it today.

I keep getting the hankering to reup.

The problem is I know I'm going to log in to my corpse of a server, see that none of the gang I used to run with has logged on in a year and log out after about 20 minutes 15 dollars poorer.

Well... you have two options then. Other than not re-subing.

- Make new characters on a new server

- Transfer to a new server

I liked a good portion of the Cataclysm content. In particlar, Hyjal, Uldum, and Deepholm.

I still don't know why people liked Nagrand. I always hated that place.
Give me Hellfire, Bladesfist, and Shadow Moon Valley any day over Nagrand. I hated Tekkrodar (sp?) the most though. The whole zone feels like a Halo rip off. Couldn't get into Zanger Marsh either (Avatar wannabe).

I always hated Shat too. In fact, Im not at all a fan of the artwork and design associated with the Drenai.

Logged in today to find 120 gold worth of auction house emails, from my little run up the river between Durotar and the Barrens to increase my fishing skill. Nice

I don't know why, but I always liked Zangarmarsh.

The more I think about it, the more I just hate the concept of WoD entirely. I hate the time travel, I hate that it basically says lore lol. I dunno, we'll see. I already prepurchased it, so no going back now :p

Yeah, I'm kinda regretting that pre-purchase too. I haven't even played my boosted 90 character.

I haven't even boosted a character yet. I'm saving for when I really really want to do it. My characters are either mid level or high level for the most part, so I'd rather grind from 88 to 90 on characters than waste a boost on them. All my low level heroes are classes I'm not that familiar with so I feel like I would suck on toast with them if I just boosted them right up to 90.
