What the developers have to say:
“Prison Architect is currently in Alpha, which means we haven't finished it yet - it's full of bugs and glitches and you're not going to get a polished experience if you buy it at the moment. What you will get is early access to a bullfrog-style Prison Management Sim that over 250,000 gamers have already thought is worth a look at.
It's remarkably stable for an early access title, and fun for a few hours, but has no endgame other than "continue to buy adjacent plots of land and increase the size/population of your prison."I heard it was good but still fairly alpha/beta? Think it was Gas who said so
Counter-points:It's not like the 3DS Minish Cap port doesn't exist. I have it from being a 3ds early adopter. :/
I've yet to stop playing Skyrim. I keep adding new mods to it. I've already planned out what mods I'm going to add for my next playthrough.I've yet to play Skyrim at all. Not that my notebook could even run it on the lowest settings.
You'll notice that all of the stuff on sale is from Eidos. You only see stuff from the Japanese side of Square Enix (I.E. the only side the company and many fans care about) go on sale during anniversaries and major holiday sales. That's their bread and butter and they feel it's priced fairly. Some of it even IS priced fairly.I'm a little surprised the Square Enix sale didn't include some Final Fantasy titles. I've been thinking of getting a PSP or Vita in order to play the remastered Final Fantasy IV, but was waiting for it to go on sale. Eh, I've been on the fence about buying it, anyway, since there's not much point getting one just to play one game. Just wish it was available somewhere that wasn't portable.
Ah, you're right. I saw Square Enix and didn't notice the correlation between all the games. You'll notice that all of the stuff on sale is from Eidos. It's both. It's not a terrible game, but it's incredibly mediocre and has problems... the company that made it went out of business already, essentially because SE cut them off when the game didn't sell. What's wrong with Murdered: Soul Suspect? It looked interesting, yet I've seen the price plummet since release. Which usually means the game is either very short or not very good.
It's not bad, I even want to buy it when it gets cheaper, but the studio that made it was in financial trouble and tanked soon after its release. What's wrong with Murdered: Soul Suspect? *sob!* B-b-b-but it's my favourite game! Or at least tied with Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father!Squeenix lazily porting something to PC? The prophecies were true!
It looks like a port of a port: it's the DS version, but it looks like it was a port of that from iPad or something. Fortunately, the DS version is fantastic. It has an augment system (you can give your characters different abilities you've found, including stuff from temp allies like Edward and Yang) that makes combat deeper, extra side quests and items, an extra summon, and bonus bosses (A "united" form of the Four Lords of the Elements and a smaller version of the Giant of Babel you can fight on the moon). I know the graphics aren't amazing (though they look good on the DS) but it's easily one of the best versions of the game. I highly recommend it.[DOUBLEPOST=1410995439,1410995321][/DOUBLEPOST]Steam uploaded Final Fantasy IV today. I'm sure I've mentioned multiple times it's one of my favourite games of all time.
Except...it's the DS or 3DS version, where the graphics are more comparable to FF VII than the top-down sprite game that I hold dear to my heart. It's not the remastered version that was on the Wii and then later PSP.
So, I finally, FINALLY get one of my favourite games on Steam and I don't think I want to get it.
This is blatant lies. It's full 3D, it just keeps the top-down perspective. The DS version is still mostly sprite, just a few cut scenes thrown in.
But I LIKED the simplistic system IV had. The augment system sounds like it's complicated like later FF games. You know... SNES games can be emulated on just about anything. But I LIKED the simplistic system IV had. The augment system sounds like it's complicated like later FF games. No thanks.
Oh, I know. I've played it emmulated multiple times. Is it weird to say that it's not the same? You know... SNES games can be emulated on just about anything.
Just saying this for no reason whatsoever.
Wut? The DS version of Final Fantasy IV was completely in 3D, and had significant changes from the original 16-bit version. It's not bad, but I prefer the GBA version. The DS version is still mostly sprite, just a few cut scenes thrown in.
Nothing's ever the same as it was when you were 8. I could get you an SNES, a 28" CRT, and a copy of the game to play.. and it still probably wouldn't be the same.Oh, I know. I've played it emmulated multiple times. Is it weird to say that it's not the same?
Augment system is completely optional. You don't have to use it if you don't want to and your play will be barely affected. Also, it's not that complicated. You basically just change the character's attack menu... so, for instance, you could take Attack and Item off of Rosa and instead give her a passive that speeds up her spells and one that lets you turn ALL spells into multi target spells, making her better as a buffer and healer. This can make the game way easier if you start using some broken combos, like Darkside+Cover+Counter. But I LIKED the simplistic system IV had. Oh, I know. Though to be fair, I still greatly enjoy revisiting the game. If only to revisit the Mt. Ordeals part of the game, because it's fun to see Cecil start at Level 1 and then jump like 10 levels for the first few fights. It's just one of those games that really grabbed me and still does for some reason. I've never gotten tired of it.Nothing's ever the same as it was when you were 8. So other characters can use inherent abilities that others had? Again, no. I liked that each character had their own unique set of skills and you had to change up how you played as the story switched them out on you. Giving inherent, character-defining abilities to someone else just wouldn't feel right to me. And it's just the look of the whole game. It's just not my FF IV.Augment system is completely optional. Does it make it more fun and interesting though? Hell yes. Having two characters use Twin to cast a unique spell per a pairing is neat. Sing becomes way more useful when you start getting new songs like ones that give regen or speed you up. Yang's abilities can make some characters way more powerful. You can also learn the special abilities of the 4 Lords of the Elements, letting you d stuff like fire of Maelstroms or Curses. It's just way more fun.
It's not just the features, it's the overall look and the terrible voice acting (skimmed a few videos to check it out). The whole aesthetic that I love isn't there. Not *nuts*, just extremely particular, to the point of being self-defeating. You don't like features that you can disable, so you refuse the game when it's given as a gift. That's totally up to you, but think about that for a moment.
Fair enough then. I didn't like what they did to the Parasite Eve series so I never did buy 3rd Birthday. Also I don't have a PSP so I'd have had nothing to play it on.It's not just the features, it's the overall look and the terrible voice acting (skimmed a few videos to check it out).
