I remember them saying they were optioned for the intergalactic exchange student idea they had come up with a few years back, but other than the comics I haven't seen anything regarding Automata.I dunno man, if this isn't at least base off an option of their work seems like they might have some legal issues?
Plus this theme of robots-gaining-sentience-and-blur-the-line-between-living-and-nonliving shows up all the time. The Matrix immediately comes to mind. Oh, and the Geth from Mass Effect. The movie as presented in this trailer seems to have nothing to do with the world presented in Penny-Arcade's Automata. This looks like straight up sci-fi, with machines beginning to gain consciousness. PA's comic is a film noir style story, in which conscious androids have existed for years, and are second class citizens.
Eh, seemed similar enough that I wouldn't be surprised if it's been optioned and repurposed. Either way it looks very interesting.
That's because it's not even remotely a new concept. When the trailer started listing protocols, I thought it was about to get into Asimov's three laws of robotics. None of these concepts are younger than several decades.Plus this theme of robots-gaining-sentience-and-blur-the-line-between-living-and-nonliving shows up all the time. "Does this unit have a soul?"
Yeah, it does.This looks intriguing.
So, does he make it?This looks intriguing.
No we're not.! And we are all waiting for that as well.
Love the animation and cartoon action, especially the Jeep's teleporting .It's not an official trailer, but Sony Pictures Animation has released a little featurette with Genndy Tartakovsky that has an animation test of Popeye.
Yeah, it looks like Tartakovsky, at least in this test, does a pretty good job of capturing the feel and look of '30s cartoons in CGI form.Love the animation and cartoon action, especially the Jeep's teleporting .
I expect we'll see spinach turn up in the film. This was just an animation test, after all, designed to showcase the feel that Tartakovsky is going for with this.No spinach, no pipe, and no tattoos. Can it still be called Popeye?
CALLED IT, young Popeye.Sony apparently replied to someone on YouTube about this. The movie is essentially a prequel, so the iconic pipe, tattoo, and spinach will be tackled.
Yup and after Popeye- BOW TO THE BACK! BACK THE PAST SEND HOMERAI JACK- WOO-WOO-WACHA! That theme song is as catchy as it is nonsensical. I'm just wondering how they'll handel Aku, will it be Mako's understudy? Time will tell.I didn't realize he was behind Hotel Transylvania.

This is one of those things that needs to happen, needs to not suck, and which will be difficult without Mako to provide the voice.BOW TO THE BACK! BACK THE PAST SEND HOMERAI JACK- WOO-WOO-WACHA!
Agreed, have you read the new comics? This is one of those things that needs to happen, needs to not suck, and which will be difficult without Mako to provide the voice.
And I don't want it to happen because I need some sort of closure, I want it to happen because the series was amazing and I just want more of it.

No. I never even finished watching the series since they took away my cable before I could catch 'em all.Agreed, have you read the new comics?
I don't think the comics spoil much, I think they are just as serial as the show.No. I never even finished watching the series since they took away my cable before I could catch 'em all.
I bought the first VHS, which has the origin eps + Scotsman bridge ep, but I wouldn't mind owning the entire series.

Tim Burton's most terrifying concept yet. Amy Adams as a blond... *sigh* but there aren't enough redheads in the world as it is...A new movie directed by Tim Burton that doesn't star Johnny Depp...
Big Eyes
Technically, she's a strawberry blonde, the palest of reds, and dyes it darker. But considering this a a biopic, I'm guessing the original woman was a blonde.Tim Burton's most terrifying concept yet. Amy Adams as a blond... *sigh* but there aren't enough redheads in the world as it is...
What do you mean? I don't understand. Depp is in all his movies. Otherwise, it's just not a Tim Burton movie. Right?A new movie directed by Tim Burton that doesn't star Johnny Depp...]
