Found this while mining the other day:

- Farming, breeding animals, killing animals.
- Branch mining
- Monster hunting (especially slimes because I enjoy trying to find them)
- Trading with villagers
Basically I've spent way too much time doing grindy stuff because I'm distracting myself from anxiety. Also, once you get to a certain point, things snowball. Mining with a high efficiency diamond pick will really allow you to churn through rock. A powerful sword and bow make monster hunting a lot easier, and Looting makes it a lot more fun. A big enough farm will produce a lot of crops with only a little more work than a small farm.

TIL that nametags don't work like I assumed they would. I thought it just a matter of using the nametag on something. No, you have to rename them on an anvil. WTF?
So hey guys, the end portal is somewhere under that ocean monument by Grub's house. We found a piece of a stronghold, then got mining fatigue trying to follow my eye. The hunt continues.
@figmentPez I am looking at you, since you said you wanted to clear it and I don't want to steal it from ya.
Actually, we're gonna hit it because it's annoying. I know where at least two others are for ya Pez, they seem to be everywhere, or feel free to salvage it.

After Dei, her husband, and MattGrub finished with their adventure last night I also tried to find the stronghold under the monument. Gave up after a while as it a little hard to find with all those stupid fishes swimming around. After dying I went in another direction and found another one. This one was bisected by a ravine and a abandoned mineshaft. Makes for interesting way down. Built a staircase to it and eliminated the silverfish spawner. The portal has no ender eyes, but whenever I get some I'll fill it in.

I have all the materials you could need. 32+ Ender Pearls and a stack of Blaze Rods. Feel free to take what you want. Ender Pearls are in the monster drops chest, and Blaze Rods are near the brewing stand.
Yeah, if it's in your way, feel free to clear it out. Like you said, there are more.
We were pretty close to the portal last night, did you actually use our nether portal or were you trying to dig through the monument? The stronghold we found was directly under the monument, shouldn't have needed to deal with those asshole fish, we just needed to clear it because the guardians kept debuffing.
Yep, I found that end portal. Was easy peasy once I didn't have to worry about mining fatigue. This stronghold is in pieces though, and I wonder if large chunks of it are missing because of the monument. I made a path from our networked portal to the end chamber, I didn't want to move the portal just because I dropped an ender chest on it and I didn't want to worry about finding it again later. It's not a far walk either way.

@figmentPez - Thanks for the offer, I'll stop by later today to pick some up to fill in the end portal.
@Dei - No, I went the derpy way and swam for it. Didn't really find a portal to get there, but I had a little bit of fun doing it. At least I didn't go out with the best gear I had.

I stopped by the ocean monument near Grub's, to see if I could start draining it, but I couldn't find any room with sponges in my first bit of exploration. Those guardians are annoying, and I'm not very good at mazes. I may try searching again later, I dunno.

Finished clearing that room, and cleared all of the hallway (which is much easier work) until I got to the next big room. Big rooms are difficult work, especially that one, since it has a lot of enemies wandering in.
Got six levels killing guardians as I was draining water. Enchanted a Fortune 3 pick, and left it in the chest at spawn.
@figmentPez - Borrowed four of the blaze rods, and eight of your pearls. The end portal is open at the one I found, and still working for the portal to the nether. I

I took over. Cleared that big room and a couple of the side ones, but not down the next "wing" of it. Left all the sponges in the furnace, and the furnace is fully-stocked with coal. I also picked up a number of jack-o-lanterns and left them in a chest beside the furnace. I took a number of the Sea Lanterns with my Silk Touch pickaxe.

Built a zombie grinder not too far from my place. It's located at 470, -377. Which is south of my place. Once you're near the tower should be pretty visible from a distance. Anyone is welcome to idle in the hut there and collect whatever drops. It's not set up to be an experience grinder, just loot. It drops too little iron to be viable for that, but rotten flesh can be traded for emeralds, so I'm going to see how well it does.

Correction, it drops no iron at all, and no carrots or potatoes, either. I did not know this before but rare drops only occur when a player causes death. Since these zombies are never hit by a player, they will never drop any rares.
Too bad. That'd be cool.
I gotta find a place to put some villagers or something. I feel left out having none.

It is possible to set up a grinder so that you just deliver the last couple punches, which gets experience and rare drops, but I wanted this to be a completely idle thing. I might change it later, I dunno.
You, or anyone else, is always welcome to stop by my place and trade with mine. Trades aren't quite as awesome as they used to be, since you can't get unenchanted tools/equipment anymore.
Well, I had a setback today. I was afking at the mini iron farm for more iron, and had a thunderstorm stop by. Apparently it struck the holding pen that I had all the villagers stored in. Today I learned that villagers turn into witches when it lands near them by 3-5 blocks. So much fun clearing them out and starting the breeding program over again.

Got into the server today at lunch, kept getting kicked off every few minutes and at one point I got stuck on ... nothing. Acted like I was stuck in a pile of leaves/wall, but wouldn't let me walk/jump at all in any direction (including down). The "stuck" was fixed but it required being teleported one space away before it would stop. The getting kicked off every few minutes never went away, though. Ask @grub he ran into the same problem.

I know! I thought, "What did I do, crash the server?" But I swear when it happened, all I was doing was walking across my island and had to jump down a block's worth and right after I jumped down the game kicked me off and...there we were. I hope it wasn't the chat with Matt that caused it, because that's the only other thing I was doing aside from walking.

Got a wither skeleton skull while I was in the Nether today. Since I don't think I want to make it into fireworks, or a skull and crossbones banner, does anyone else want it?

Sure, it's in my chest labeled Coal. Seemed the logical place for it.
