So...good news/bad news kinda day.
Good news - My mother does not have cancer! Treatment for what she actually has is simple and effective. Nice.
Bad news - My grandfather was diagnosed with vascular dementia. His brain is calcifying and slowly shrinking. The hospital ran the scan confirming it when he broke his femur in early September. Except they didn't tell the family about that, releasing him to the nursing home rehab wing. Now we understand why the insurance suddenly decided to stop paying for rehab, leaving my grandmother scrambling for MassHealth care, and why the home wanted to move him into the general population. That little doozy came up in casual conversation with one of the folks working at the facility. They had all the paperwork and records. My grandmother is absolutely devastated.
