New Picture Thread

But I always get a kick out of it when I get one of those bills. The way the queen's placed on it looks like she's getting banged by all those bucks.

Decided to dress to the nines at work tonight, including a plastic guy I picked up some months ago. Felt like a total badass the whole day. When I got home, I had Mom take some pictures. A lot of them turned out really great, in my opinion. I'll save the best - my favourite - for last.

(Love the lighting in this one.)

Turns out, an underground parking garage makes for great shots.

KA-BLAM

And my all-time favourite new photo. Really lucked out well with this pose, with the lighting.

You don't put your finger inside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.

The first photo, I would have smacked you upside the head, after getting the gun out of your hand.

Otherwise, nice photos.

Even a plastic one. It's a habit to establish and to keep. It's the second lesson of gun safety in my house, first lesson: Treat every gun as if it were loaded, at all times. Form the habits.
I didn't want these fun little pictures to turn into a debate about gun safety. Again, I've never owned or even held a gun in my life. I wouldn't have two clues about handling one properly.

They're just commenting on how someone who does use a gun regularly would handle it. Don't take it too seriously. It could be useful knowledge for your writing though.

It'll make your pictures look cool, too. Well, even more cool.

And yeah, brown shoes next time. Then it'd be a very convincing PI costume.

As I said on my first post, "nice photos."

But, gun safety is something that is important, and becomes second nature to those that deal with guns all the time. Dill would be in this type class. To me, gun safety is #1, whether it's a real gun, prop gun or paintball/airsoft gun. I've seen people injured by idiots that didn't take the measures they were supposed to take with paintball and airsoft guns, luckily both people didn't have permanent injuries.

Meh I get that your hearts are in the right place but it's fun pictures with a toy gun. Besides if you want to get pedantic he's pointing it at the bad guy so presumably he's ready to shoot.
Except the one where he's pointing it at his forehead. The rest, yeah. Just that one made me cringe. "I'll just raise the brim of my BLAM"

Trust me, we all learned a valuable lesson about trigger discipline... and wearing a cup... when Lucas let his girlfriend use his airsoft AEG Uzi and she wasn't careful about her trigger finger.

Poor Bilsky.

That actually made me laugh out loud. tolazytolinkcitizenkane.gif[DOUBLEPOST=1414673941,1414673864][/DOUBLEPOST]
Nah. I took a quick and dirty attempt in PS at it for ya.

Someone else might do better, I have a hard time with photoshop tasks that don't involve making boobs bigger.

If he poses in a bikini, shoulders square to the camera, you got a deal.

This. I remember stumbling over a sci-fi story online that was very thought out, had characters I liked (characters who were all different people, even!), and was pretty cohesive, and then we get to a part where one of the main characters "...readied his revolver, clicking off the safety..." [paraphrase] and I was all, "Buh?" It was very jarring. It didn't ruin the story, but it was still very distracting.

Actually, there are a number of revolvers with manual safeties.

And a number of semi-automatics without them.
Quite so. Lots of argument about whether Glock's "trigger safeties" are actual safeties or not.

They prevent the gun from firing unless a finger is actually pulling the trigger. Some people think that if the "safety" is on, you shouldn't be ABLE to pull the trigger. Clock enthusiasts shoot back (pun intended) that the only real "gun safety" is the one between the ears.

I don't remember the specifics (it's been a while since I read the story) but I think it was a Python, and I know those don't have safeties. Not even the "half-cock" kind.

Yeah, if you're going to use a specific make and model of anything in a story, you should do your research on it to make sure that you don't make any factual errors. People who are familiar with the thing (be it a gun, car, stereo, or whatever) will instantly lose immersion in their WTF moment.
