Halforum Minecraft Server

I rebooted the server. Feel free to PM me if it ever happens. I at least get an email when I get one so I may see it sooner.

I gotta get a new map up. Hopefully in the morning I'll be able to.

Anyone else still getting booted? It seems ok for me.[DOUBLEPOST=1412515900,1412515312][/DOUBLEPOST]New map! I'm just going to give you all a link to the folder. I'll try to get weekly maps up there.

Also, I'm going to toss up the world backups too.

I think the booting might have been my chickens, my breeding program got out of hand. I culled most of the flock. down to 100. I estimate they were around 500 before. sorry

edit

on a unrelated note, I'm not sure what to build now.

Fortune III for everyone!

One of my new librarian villagers offers to enchant books with Fortune III for 41 emeralds, so I got 5 of them. They're in a chest at my place in a single chest above a sign that says "Books of Fortune III". Anyone is welcome to take one, though this kind of puts a dent in my plans to build stuff out of emerald blocks, but that's okay. You can leave emeralds in return, if you want, but it's not necessary.

Also, I have no idea what to do with my experience, so if anyone wants me to go ahead and put that Fortune III on a pick with other enchantments, just tell me what you'd like with it, and I'll whip up a nice diamond pick for you.

Woo Hoo! I finally have a farmer in my village! Sacrificing the heretics worked! I've been pushing all the undesirables out of my village, and letting zombies eat them. Are farmers super-rare or have I just had horrible luck?

It was worth it, though. Farmers are a fantastic source of emeralds. This guy trades wheat, carrots, potatoes, pumpkins and melons for emeralds. One harvest of my fields gets me about a stack of emeralds, depending on how much pumpkin/melon harvesting I've gotten in.

Not yet. Diamond was the only thing I was missing to be able to go anywhere, and now that I finally have some, I'll be able to get more.

Just finished setting up a skeleton grinder. Simplistic, and has a limited storage for drops. One punch with a sword two with hand, I'll drop it some more to be instant kill or switch to xp. Location is -106.5 50 5. Just west of spawn, you can find the drop tube easily enough.

I think I know what I did wrong. I had the inside right, but the outside wasn't covered enough. Of course I was inside when I lit it so I didn't notice until blocks started disappearing and before I knew it so was my roof. I think I'm going to install a sprinkler system on the roof before I try again.

My shepherd disappeared from my village. Not sure what happened to him. I'm guessing lightning strike or glitch. So it's time to purge the heretics again, until I finally get another. Already a leatherworker, a librarian, two clerics and a blacksmith have been tried and sent to their death.

Life in my village is harsh.

While just messing around in the Nether, I have aquired three wither skeleton skulls. I've never fought a wither before, at least outside of creative. When I did that, I spawned it on the surface, and it was a pain to get rid of. I hear they're easier to handle if you spawn them underground. Is it likely I'd be able to take a wither down, or would I just mess up the server?

It can be quite difficult. I've never tried it, not even in creative.
Though if we have a team who can take down the Enderdragon, I'm sure they could take down a Wither.
The collateral damage would probably be impressive.

I'll play around a bit in single player, see what it's like underground, see if I can roughly replicate what I'd be trying.

The easiest way seems to be to smother them by causing them to spawn with their heads in bedrock. That's why people like to spawn them in the nether, where you have a bedrock "ceiling" you can embedsummon them.
Safety not guaranteed.

In the Nether there is a few spots that you can kill a 'wither' near the top bedrock with it not getting out and about and ruining your day.

Along with I finished a gold farm on top of the nether that can give you xp and rare drops as well. Just need to expand the storage a little bit more, and thanks FigmentPez for helping with the wood situation for the iron farm. I should have the frame work for that up by the end of the weekend and some of the storage ready as well (a whole lot of storage).

Gold farm is producing well enough that I have collected enough gold for some notch apples and about 640 blocks worth of powered rails. If anyone needs some please stop by my hovel.
I am also about a third of the way through collecting enough iron, rs and quartz for the storage system of the iron farm. If anyone wants to contribute some, please drop it off at the chest near spawn next to the ladder going up. Thanks.

Where is your hovel? I think I searched for your portal in the Nether and couldn't find it. There are a lot of unlabeled portals.

Is my beacon ostentatious enough?
Minecraft _ Emerald Beacon _ 2014-11-12.jpg

I'm kinda puzzled as to the real utility of beacons. They just don't seem to be useful enough for the investment. That's 164 emerald blocks (1,476 emeralds), plus all the time spent killing wither skeletons. It only gives a 50 block radius, which would barely cover my small compound, and wouldn't cover my entire mine. Heck, it doesn't reach my mine from there, since I'll have to dig out a placement for it if I want it to help my mining efforts.

You can only choose one of these benefits:
- Speed - this is fun to run around my base with, but it's also giving me a bit of motion sickness.
- Haste - I haven't tried this yet, but it's going to be a bit of work to get the beacon into a position to use it for mining.
- Jump Boost - who needs increased jumping around their own base?
- Strength - again, who needs a strength boost inside their own base?
- Resistance - Are there lots of people setting up fight clubs around beacons?
With the four level pyramid you can optionally get Regeneration, but again, I'm in my own base, where I have lots of safety, food and potions.

Minecraft _ Many Headed Hydra Chicken _ 2014-09-27.jpg

Hydra Chicken! I think I cut off it's head one too many times.

He said: It is to the east of his place. You can tell him to go along the river until he finds the road that is being built, and just follow it there.
