I am a cretin.
Remembrance Day service over... doff the black and the red poppy and BRING ON THE CHRISTMAS CAROLS!
I already have one of the special advent services organized and written up (a joint service with the Catholics), and two others well on their way (both with other churches, so I'm waiting on other peeps to get their shit together), and the general layout for the standard Sunday's done! Woo hoo! Bring on the flu season glut of visits to the hospital and funeral home! I may have to get a cloak (yes, clerical cloaks are a thing, they're glorious and expensive, and something out of the medieval period... it'll depend on how may 'bonuses' I get from said funerals I think, folks out here don't tip their clergy like the rest of the country) this year for internments at the cemetary - it gets bloody windy up there on the hill, and my bright red wool knee-length trench coat just doesn't seem appropriate.
[and if I hear a choir take a breath between 'Emmanuel' and 'and ransom' in the first line of 'o come, o come emmanuel' I may throw things... but there's still 4 weeks to the carol service with 8 or so (amature) choirs, so no need to get hot under the collar about that yet I suppose.]
