I think Pan looks okay, although as a fan of the IT Crowd I laughed when at the beginning they talked about "Peter's file".

What we really needed is a Peter Pan prequel where we discover for some reason Peter Pan and James Hook are the best of friends and comrades, only for their paths to diverge and tragically turn them into enemies, and it all comes full circle. I bet that exec meeting took five minutes, with a lunch break in the middle.

And man, Blackbeard sure has gotten popular again in the last couple years.

STAR WARS.
Some thoughts:

1. Not as much lens flare as I thought there'd be.
2. WTF is that Stormtrooper-helmeted dark figure with a lightsaber at 1:02? Reminds me of the Darth Vader concept art.
3. Yay Chewie's alive!
4. Lots of Darth Vader breathing. Are they seriously bringing him back in some way?

That skinny robo-Vader thing ... agh. Quoting older movies, TIE fighters are back. Some of the shots looked less like a movie and more like a fan film, which is why I doubt the veracity of this thing right now.

One of the many problems with the prequel trilogy is that its major source of inspiration was the original trilogy. This sequel trilogy cannot do that too; it needs to seek inspiration from outside sources or else let the franchise continue to ... I don't know what's a better analogy, cannibalism or incest.

Great, now I need to wait for a whole NEW trailer just to see if they didn't kill off Chewie like in the books.

That was physically painful to watch. :(
Its a toss up of what's most abhorrent about it, the use of pop-songs, the fact that it claims to basedon Shakespeare, its general presentation,or how George just crammed in a bunch of kids movie tropes to make a buck.

Personally, I liked the pop-songs in Ella Enchanted, but the trailer for Strange Magic makes them seem very awkward.

Started so Meh.

Then great shots of X-Wings on Hoth.

Then triple bladed lightsabre! (meh)

Then hero shot of Falcon. Goosebumps!

But the little metal pieces jut out so a sliding sabre would cut through it anyways. It makes sense as an analog to a big broadsword but first reaction was 'two blades?!? Why not three!'

Also if it is defensive it doesn't actually need to be plasma - just the containment field - so really it would be invisible.

Re: the lightsaber

What surprised me most was the flickering of the blade itself. I wonder is this will just be the default effect, or if that was some special, unstable saber. I remember some eu sabers used by sith bring the kind to short out regular sabers.

Just going from the books they could fly in the atmosphere but just wheren't meant to do so. Wind was a pain in the ass for them and their large panels.
The books/EU and video games aren't canon. The old Star Wars: Rebel Assault PC game also depicted TIEs flying in atmo, but it was largely considered a gaffe/oversight.

The only way I can see that it makes sense is if they are made of cortosis.

But you could have have the guards entirely made out of cortosis and it would achieve the same result.

I suppose with bladed guards you get to stab people as you slam into them with the hilt but it doesn't seem like a terribly great tactic.
