Movie News & Miscellany

If they adapted one of the RPGs, it would work.

Sony could make another awful Mario movie, but it would only backfire against them and not Nintendo. Nintendo seems like they're finally willing to try marketing their IPs again, so we're likely to see more stuff if initial forays do well.

I think part of the problem with adapting Super Mario Bros (both past and future attemps) is that the games don't really have much of a plot and none of the main characters have any identifiable characteristics outside of appearance.
Soooooo....pretty much in line with most Sony movies, eh? :whistling:

I remember JCM once posted something that basically said that the Playstation sector of Sony could collapse completely, and the company as a whole would still survive. Because Sony's got so much going on. Is that still the case?

Yes and no. Like I've said elsewhere, Sony's biggest income is actually selling insurance in Japan, then electronics, then the PlayStation division... but PlayStation and electronics are catching up because everyone is buying ether iPods or bargain basement brand mp3 players.

The issue they have at the moment is they funneled a shitload of cash into their smartphone division, and said division did terribly this year. Sony did so poorly that they can't pay the bonus to their shareholders this year for the first time since starting the practice. Last I read they think they're at about a $2 billion loss.

So, apparently Tim Burton has the Marvel movies mixed up with the DC, Sony, and Fox movies.

Marvel put out the most light hearted super hero movie since Batman: The Movie (1966), and I wouldn't consider Tony Stark, Captain America, etc... to be dark and brooding.

That's DC's wheelhouse.
This from the fuckstick who wanted his movie Superman to be a leather-clad cyborg who couldn't fly.

You know, the more I hear from Tim Burton, the bigger an idiot he comes off as.

Hey, Tim Burton: You don't get to say shit about dark and brooding movies, you don't get to say shit about formulaic movies, in fact, just shut the fuck up and keep giving handies to Danny Elfman.

He's so right, what the genre needs now is washed-out colors, Helena Bonham-Carter with bad hair, and Johnny Depp stumbling around a set muttering like a drunk.

I can't decide between Lexiac and Luthiac, they both sound equally terrible. Fleh, I'll go with what the DCAU did and just not use a terrible fusion name.

What needs to happen now? Massive air drop of "The Interview" DVDs on North Korea.

Also, Franco and Rogan need to sue the fuck out of Sony.

they don't have DVD players

and they already got paid
DVD players are actually one of the bigger black market items in North Korea. Chinese and South Korean tv and movies are hot ticket items. Read Nothing To Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea.

And they certainly had points on the back-end of this, considering Rogan helped write it. They have cause for being denied future gains due to Sony's cowardice, though I'm sure Sony will settle.

When Sony pulled The Interview, several theaters decided to show Team America: World Police instead, as a middle finger extended toward NK.

Paramount said "Oh no you aren't."

2014 is officially the year Hollywood surrendered to terrorists.
...you know yesterday I was gonna use Team America as point against this...now I guess I don't have a leg to stand on. Our entertainment industry is run by fools and COWARDS!

And make no mistake, we see the distinction between "hollywood companies" and the US, but our enemies (and allies) abroad probably won't so much. The international optics on this is that America has capitulated to North Korea. America has been defeated by terrorism.

This is such incredible bullshit. I'm so disgusted with corporations and the government in general right now.

Okay, GasBandit Keith.

In America.

NK is probably throwing huge parades right now, with shredded American flag confetti and military officers reciting how the New Glorious Leader is destroying the disgusting American pigs with his laser-hacker-vision.

So, you know, and normal weekday for them.
