[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

Mr. Z and I are watching Marco Polo. As one of our friends described it, it almost feels like Marco Polo doesn't even need to be there. We're only 4 episodes in, so we'll see if it keeps my interest.

Started and finishedTrue Detective over the course of the week. Very good, engrossing, and tense. It deserves all its accolades. That said, was anyone else disappointed that we didn't get

Anything actually coming of the cult? I was under the impression it would actually go in the route of the weird stuff being hinted at throughout the show, but the vision of a galaxy/portal thing in episode 8 is all there was, and that could've been Rust having a vision--although he said he could always tell when something wasn't real, so I don't know if he would've been stunned like that if it was just another hallucination.

So while it was a great show, I'm kind of wishing there actually was a high quality Lovecraft-ish mystery show.

There also seem to parts of the story left unfinished that season 2 will have no interest in resolving since it will be about new characters, new story, new setting.

Binged watched season 1 of Hannibal on APrime. Very good use of the source material and looking forward to when they have season 2. I really like their take on Graham and Mads really makes Hannibal his own. Good stuff.

I've polished off a few series over the last month or two.

Supernatural had its ups and downs, but all in all I'm looking forward to s10 hitting Netflix.

Wilfred was absolutely bonkers and each season ended with a hearty what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck? Again, can't wait for the final season to hit NF.

Parks and Rec is now one of my favorite shows ever and I'm glad I'll be able to watch the final season as it airs.

Working on Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and enjoying it more than I thought I would. It's surprisingly accurate to the comics.

That's what I hear. I almost started Ultimate Spider-Man, but apparently that one is pretty garbage too, compared to the previous series.
Ultimate Spider-man is a hot mess of cliches and crap, the only good episode was the Deadpool one which I feel they made sure was good so that people like me would say "Well at least the one with Deadpool was good!" That episode was the lure, you watch that episode thinking "Hey, maybe it got better after season 1." And then they make Amadeus Cho "Iron Spider" , the most pointless spider suit of all time. Also, only THREE spider legs? Spiders have 8 limbs dumb asses!

The worst part of Ultimate Spider-Man?

They cancelled Spectacular Spider-Man to make that show happen.

It's been a rough year in fiction. Hot Topic has put together a tribute video to all the TV and Movie characters we lost last year. SPOILERS GALORE. DO NOT WATCH unless you've seen EVERY TV SHOW AND MOVIE in 2014 that you care to see without knowing who dies in it :p

I, of course, am mortified they excluded the year's most tragic fictional death, that of
Shakey Jones, on Halforums Academy
.

That and they changed "Living Mummy"'s origin from that of an African slave....to a pharaoh. That's fucked up.
Wow. That is kinda messed up.

But aside from that, Spectacular Spider-Man was a great series. I loved the character developments they did and how they wove their story over the course of the series. Such a shame to end it at the point they did.

Also he looked almost Caucasian in his non-mummy form so take from that what you will.

And yes to Spectacular, I wish it were on Netflix or Prime cos those damn stream sites are a bitch to go through with the pop ups.

I have started watching Brooklyn Nine Nine. It might be the second best cop show ever.

It's not breaking any TV boundaries or being terribly innovative, it's just colouring in the lines REALLY well. It's a very by the numbers sitcom that just happens to be really well written and really funny. It's refreshing and will fill the Parks and Rec shaped hole nicely.

You say that but compared to most sitcoms, Brooklyn 9-9 has probably the most diverse leading cast ever and the straight man boss is a gay black man (and also one of the funniest characters in any sitcom I've ever watched).
