[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

I've always thought Ant-Man was a stupid hero. He's the Aquaman of the shores.
It's really too bad about that SuperFriends cartoon turning Aquaman into a big joke, because he's actually pretty awesome. He's strong, pseudo-invulnerable, pretty quick, and some versions could even manipulate water. Also, there's this list.

He was pretty badass in Injustice: Gods Among Us.
Yeah, he beat up my Superman pretty handily.

Also, Aquaman was awesome in series 1 of the Injustice comics. When basically the rest of the entire Justice League came to see him in the sea and tell him to follow their orders, he was all like, "This is my turf, you guys don't get to dictate terms on my turf."

And then Superman got all dickish, but that's another story altogether.

Superman schooled him in Injustice. Aquaman flexed his muscles and then Superman took his kingdom from him. The only leverage Aquaman had was to attack coastal cities as blackmail.

I thought the JL/JLA animates series did a lot to redeem the Aquaman character.

And Batman: the Brave and the Bold as well, even though it wasn't a serious take on the character (or any character for that matter).

You mean adapting Peter David's work?

BatB Aquaman is the best version of Aquaman, and all they had to do was copy Marvel's Hercules. I really wish they just went in that direction with the new 52 version, instead of Geoff Johns tearing down strawmen and trying to insist that Aquaman is a cool character.

Hmm... interesting, I suppose, but it doesn't really tell us much we didn't already know.

Although it appears the Hulkbuster does better against the Hulk than I'd expected.

It's called the HULK BUSTER. It better damn well do well against him.

Plus, I imagine Tony's studied The Hulk well, just in case.

It was my impression that in the comics, the Hulk was barely slowed down by the Hulkbuster. It did better than how one of Tony's normal suits would've fared, but in the end still lost badly. But I haven't actually read the relevant comics, so I'm going by my impressions here.

Also, I wonder if they're going to have a sort of Tower of Babel scenario, where the Hulkbuster is evidence that Tony's got contingency plans for every member of the Avengers. It would tie in well with Civil War, I think.

Goddamn I can't wait to hear Spader own that movie.

Also, did anyone catch who that was disrobing in the cave?
Looks like a bald black woman? Or a black person with some sort of gold attachment or hair in the middle of her head.

Doesn't look like a character we've seen before.

EDIT: Okay wait, it just occurred to me that we've seen shots of Cap's shield getting broken in AoU. Cap's shield is made of vibranium, which is indestructible, unless it's up against something else made of vibranium. As a result, there's widespread speculation that Ultron's body is made of vibranium. Where does vibranium come from? Wakanda. And we already know there's going to be a Black Panther movie.

So I'm betting that the cave scene takes place in Wakanda.

Soooooooooooooo much this. Plus, the fact that people in that world think he's lame never made that much sense to me. In our world it makes perfect sense, there's a lame cartoon depiction of him but on New Prime Earth One, he's the damn king of Atlantis. Also he doesn't have his glorious beard, which is a sin against nature. You grew that thing for a reason Artie!

Any movies worth watching in Jan/Feb?
January? No.

February, maybe. Jupiter Ascending is coming out, the new Wachowski movie, so YMMV. Then there's Seventh Son, monster hunting in medieval times, which will probably suck aside from Jeff Bridges.

Then there's thing getting buzz that will be terrible, like James Bond Junior Kingsman, and 50 Shades of Gray.

Jan/Feb tends to be cinematic bust season. Looking ahead ... wow, we're getting a Poltergeist remake in June? That can fuck right off.

There's also The Voices coming out in February. That looks interesting and has been getting some good buzz.
