Funny Pictures Thread. It begins again

The audience of the Windows 10 unveiling... there seems to be a common thread among the people attending... (yes it's on Reddit, commence the rustling of jimmies)

Um, Bachelors in Computer Science with a MacBook here.*

*Started out as journalism major. Mac caused me to have to use the labs a lot.

Standard PCs - can run Windows and *nix.
Mac computer - can run Windows, *nix and OS X.

I'm assuming that's all it is.

That story sounds to me like a ski pro having to rent his skis and poles constantly for years because all owned on his first day was a toboggan.

Tell you what. I'll give you 10 bucks for every laptop in that audience running windows if you give me 1 for each one running OS X.

Why would anyone pay the apple tax for a laptop and then not run OS X?
I'm not saying I understand why someone would do it, but I will say I've seen it fairly often.
"Are you saying you want to dual-boot with Windows? Like with Parallels or Boot Camp?" "No, I just need it to be a pure Windows machine."
THEN WHY DID YOU BUY A MAC [DOUBLEPOST=1421878467,1421878400][/DOUBLEPOST]

Do I have to include the phones? Cuz if so that's waaay tilted towards you.;)
Hey, it's what I'd do (I always prioritize maximum versatility). But I realize I'm not typical.

If I want to game, I'm on Windows. If I want to crunch numbers, I'm on linux. If I want to get shit done, which is probably what a journalist wants, I'm on my Mac, no question. Plus, there's the fact that a Macbook is physically built like a tank, which makes it an awesome conference laptop.

I can tell you none of the "shit" that gets "done" at this office, or the office of any other job I've ever held ever was done on a Mac OS.

They sure are neat for making home movies and posters and stuff though.

Well, I mean, I can counter the opposite, so anecdotes and all that.

Yeah it was definitely unpleasant, but not awful. It was probably for the best that I wasn't working where I lived anyways. I also definitely wasn't about to spend another $1000 on a laptop after dropping ~$2000 a year and a half before.

That article lists reasons people and companies aren't adopting them, not why I can't be productive on them.
Argument flow violation error.
You said you get shit done on macs.
I pointed out most professionals get shit done on windows based systems.
You said my point was based on anecdotal evidence that you could contradict with your own.
I provided non-anecdotal link in reference to businesses still doing shit on windows, not mac.
Now you're trying to say that the link I posted doesn't disprove that you, yourself, do your shit on a mac.

Getting Shit Done on Windows is the overwhelming standard.
Getting Shit Done on Mac is statistical anomaly.
That you personally do so does not change that.[DOUBLEPOST=1421882106,1421882016][/DOUBLEPOST]

I also have to chuckle at the implicit acknowledgement of the apple tax... that it takes $2000 of mac to match $1000 of PC.

That was a re-railing of your flow violation. You were trying to JCM the argument by pushing it to something it was never about, and I pointed out that this really isn't what I was talking about. Whether other people get shit done on a Mac, and whether it's a statistical anomaly has nothing to do with my original point.

Then let me rephrase my initial reply to you -

"I get shit done on a mac"

"You are wierd and not statistically relevant."

(with subtitled caption so the joke will be clear to mac users)

FTFY

Linux - Do everything yourself. Have fun.
Windows - It's the way your dad did it, and it was good enough for him!
Mac - Get good results with little effort, as long as it doesn't break but expensive to service.

I've actually been thinking of getting a straight razor. Seems like a rather manly thing to do.

At my old barber's, he'd always take a straight razor to my sideburns. Felt nicely tingly. I've often wondered if I can reproduce the effect if I do it myself.

From what I hear, make sure you practice on a lathered balloon before you actually try it on your face. Because that shit will peel you like a blood-engorged grape at the slightest errant twitch.
