Seriously? You actually liked FF8's love story? Squall x Rinoa was excruciating.

Yes, yes I did. The gradual development of Squall as a character, as Rinoa slowly drew him out of his self-imposed shell and forced him to confront his emotions, speaks to me on a deep level due to my own emotional issues at the time.

I fear not your pistols at dawn, mister, because I know it's impossible to hit anything at all with that ridiculous gunblade.
I'd argue this, but when he was voiced by David Boreanaz in Kingdom Hearts, Squall briefly pinged on my radar. I've never played FFVIII, so I've got nothing for that.
On the topic of the gunblade, is it really so crazy that a ridiculous weapon exists in a fantasy realm? Cyllinder's probably made of mythrill for all we know.

I know that "IMMA SHOOT YOU WHILE I STAB YOU" sounds awesome when you scream it in Yoshinese, but there's some glaring problems with the idea that have nothing to do with cylinder strength.
You stab them, pull the trigger, the shockwave destroys their organs! Maybe the blade is like vibranium or something. I see the logic in said ridiculous weapon, sure its probably the result of a weaponsmith high on whatever drug Final Fantasy people do but I see it.
Not gonna lie, discussing ridiculous fantasy weapons is what I need right now.
His personality of "..." and "whatever" trumps anything positive about his voice in a different game. He has the personality of a rotted log.
What annoys me is that in the Dissidia games, they give swap Squall's and Cloud's personalities so that Cloud becomes the disaffected loser who won't work with others, as opposed to the disaffected loser who will occasionally quip and dress in drag.
Except Neku is portrayed as kind of a fucking loser by just about everyone he meets. What a different 10 years makes.
Same reason she was attracted to Seifer... she has some major daddy issues.

As for gunblades... they're super-powered mercenaries... they probably just use them coz it makes them look cool.
As opposed to Squall, who seems to have been cobbled from what someone thought would come off as cool.
I don't get why everyone seems to think that Squall was supposed to be made cool by how he was acting at the start, and for most of the game...
I mean, like most of the other characters his personality was how he was dealing with his major abandonment issues (Zell was mega friendly, Quistis was all business etc) from the whole orphanage / memory loss stuff...

It's an american trope. The badboy James Dean disaffected lone-wolf biker type, who wears lots of leather and is cynical and standoffish... combined with the "emo" trope of the late 90s/early 2000s.

I've tried reading Youtube comments on what shouldn't be inflammatory videos, like classical music performances. Nnnnope, depressing valleys of stupidity and evil. Life is better without Youtube comments.
Maybe yours, but I love em! The stupidity, the argument futility, the trolls who everyone thinks is serious but aren't, its the absolute definition of discord!! And occasionally you get a nice little conversation, its like a fun little gamble.
For me, reading those is the quickest way to become a nihilist.
The worst of it right now is any video you get to from reddit or that's been linked there is now flooded with those fucking stupid fake neckbeard posts. The profile pic is always some doofus in a fedora and the content is generally a bunch of memes mashed into some weird amalgam that becomes a paragraph.
Why hate the worst in humanity, when its better to love that humanity can be just the worst? That's from the Tao of YM right there.
