Really? I assumed the sun was striking the clouds while it was at its zenith ("high noon"), meaning we were looking at the southern edge of the clouds, placing them north of Lubbock.

That is a view looking east with Evans Middle School in Lubbock in the foreground. That cloud is probably south of Wichita Falls.

Welp, nevermind. It's East. The football field in the picture belongs to Evans Middle School, which shows it was East and taken in the evening. So it's not Amarillo getting nuked, it's like...Wichita Falls or something.
EDIT: Looks like @Sparhawk and I were looking at the same maps about a minute apart. Did you know that Lubbock has a LOT of football fields?
