[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

Thanks to my uncanny ability to ignore previous material before watching a movie, I can say that I like the ff trailer and I'm looking forward to see the movie. I can't say the same about batman v superman.

... Why did Thing explode when he hit the ground?
I get the feeling from the trailer that Grimm has become a gestalt being, sort of like the rock creature from Galaxy Quest, and only holds humanoid form because that's the form he chooses/is most familiar with.

That's all well and good, but he causes a fireball explosion when he hits the ground.

I assumed that was because he hit a vehicle.
Because as we know, vehicles in movies are all powder kegs waiting to explode at the slightest provocation.
Also, I really like the Torch effects in this one.

It looked to me like he landed behind the vehicle, which caused an unwarranted explosion than then threw the vehicle flying.

I assumed he "conveniently" hit the fuel tank when he landed.
Also, FF2 has already been announced for 2017? What? And it was announced over a year ago?

Fox and Marvel are fighting pretty hard over the Fantastic Four franchise. Marvel has made it clear that they won't stop at anything to get all their franchises back in some form or another, so right now they are starving Fox of content by ending the FF comic. It's likely the X-Men comic is going to get ended as well, basically to keep Fox from getting more content for their movies (because Fox isn't going to touch the space stuff so they really only have a few good story lines from the comics left).

To counter this, Fox is basically planning to reboot everything (starting with Fantastic 4) and basically do whatever they want with the characters.

Reboot everything ... so just tell the same stories again? This sounds like a brilliant long-term plan -_-.

It's kind of funny that Marvel thinks they're starving Fox for stories by ending the comic. I mean, there's ONLY 54 years of content to use. Oh, the humanity!

Well, it's working with X-Men. Fox doesn't know how to do movies based on the Savage Lands and isn't willing to touch Space, so what is left, really? House of M? ANOTHER Phoenix movie? Marvel also stopped introducing new mutants into the comics explicitly because they didn't want Fox getting their movie rights. It's why there's been a huge boost in Inhumans stuff lately: thematically, they are similar and Marvel still owns the rights to Inhumans.

Is it just me or is Tomorrowland borrowing a lot of it's concepts from Bioshock, especially Bioshock Infinite? It's...

- Some kind of objectionist, futuristic paradise
- It's a secret from everyone except a worthy few
- You have to go through some complete bullshit just to get there
- If you know about it and aren't supposed to, they will hunt you down
- There appears to be some kind of conflict of ideals that is shaping the world

Even that scene with the rocket and getting into Tomorrowland looks a lot like one of the opening scenes of Bioshock: Infinite.

I couldn't tell you. I have so much antipathy of that movie just from the concept alone that I can't even bother to click on a trailer.

I dunno, it's not THAT big a secret. Heck, they've started two more of them last year and this year, so there's quite a few ways to get in.... http://www.tomorrowland.com/global-splash/ :p

You probably aren't that far off. I saw a Japanese trailer online, which showed much more of the plot and what's happening.

Tomorrowland is basically a secret alternate universe society, one founded by a group known as Plus Ultra. Plus Ultra was started back in 1889 from a team-up of Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, and Gustave Eiffel. From that initial meeting, they began seeking to reshape the world as they filled their ranks with people of all kinds of talents, from writers to scientists to artists. Some of their ranks include Amelia Earhart, Ray Bradbury, Mark Twain, and Walt Disney. In fact, the Tomorrowland area of Disneyland was originally designed as a way to prepare people for what the real Tomorrowland could offer.

A team-up between
Edison and Tesla?
I can buy robots, killer portals, and alternate universes, but there's only so far my suspension of disbelief can go.
