[TV] Winter HAS COME! - A Game of Thrones

I haven't read this far in the books, so I have no idea what the differences are.

I was really happy with Sansa showing how much she had grown out of her role as constant victim in the bath scene. Yes, she broke down a little after Miranda left, but she didn't let any of that show while she was there. I feel like the scene with Ramsay was just a complete 180, and made it feel like the prior character development had just been thrown out the window.

Heh, came here to post my experience with the wife watching this while my daughter napped today. Needless to state, she literally said, "I think I done with this show". She was already not enthusiastic this season but that settled things nicely in that direction.

I'm just happy some of the storylines have been cut short from books 4 and 5 (the dorne shit) and not a fucking pipe from the water people, which is amazing, at least to me.

It's getting to be a little too much for Jun and she said "I hate you for getting me into this show" because she has a compulsive need to finish a show once she's started it. She's gonna watch it no matter what at this point.

It does occur to me that, if Pauline were still here, last night's episode would probably have meant I wouldn't be allowed to watch it any more either.

Also, that fight scene with the Sand Snakes was fucking terrible. One of the girls honestly sounds retarded. At the end of that I was really wondering if I was still watching GoT.

I don't really get how some people use words, like the politician that called Sansa's rape gratuitous. It was the only logical place the story could have gone. Hand a virgin over to a rape monster...

The gratuitous part was the bath scene. Those two could have had that conversation over any other activity.

I wouldn't call the bath scene gratuitous at all. Quite the opposite, nothing was shown. Everything was tastefully framed. It allowed Sansa to show her strength in a position where she was literally most exposed.

It's why the rape scene at the end felt so out of place. That, combined with HBO's closeup of Theon's face, where you can practically hear the show screaming "look how awful everything is!"

It's a crapsack world after all:notes:
Who's the guy around here with Jarate in his signature, I forget... the part where it talks about Jarate's true power being making you realize that you live in a horrible world where terrible things happen all the time for no reason and dignity doesn't exist...

I hide all sigs.

Ok, the ending of that episode allowed a lot of stupid shit to go through undiscussed, like the God awful Loras and Margaery getting inquisitioned scene. That shit is the flimsiest evidence for a trial I've ever been forced to swallow.

Am I not alone in thinking this season kind of sucks?

I think that was book 4, actually.

Though the reasoning is explained thoroughly in the book, but I can explain it in summary as "Cersei is a dumbfuck."

Well, in the books Margery is framed in a completely different way, and Loras, well... has way worse problems. Cersei was implicated by someone else, but I think this way works better for her.

I'm late to the party, but could someone remind me what the difference between the season 1 "consummation" between Khal Drogo and Denyaris is and what happened here in season 6 here?

Girl married against her will? Check
Girl raped and crying? Check

Is it that Khal Drogo comes to realize the err of his rapey ways and is a stud muffin, while ol' Ramsay is an ugly, troll man with obviously no intent on changing?

That's kinda my interpretation as well.
Hell, they were still watching after Season one Drogo and Dany? I mean, really, that was practically the same situation, shown much more explicitly... only difference was Jason Momoa is hunkilicious I guess.

It's the exact same difference between the girl you've gone on one date with sleeping with another guy and the girl you've been in a relationship for 5 years sleeping with another guy.

Just cause you forgive once doesn't mean they get a pass on doing it time and time again.

I stopped watching two episodes ago. Came in here to see what stupid bullshit the now hacky writers decided to try out this week. Still seems I made the right decision.
Unbelievable what they have done to this show.

But
in the books Cersei is still awaiting trial, the walk of shame was just the price to not do so while in a cell, so there is still time for Lancel to confess this stuff there as well.

Yeah, exactly... there'd be no reason for it if he talked...

I mean what they got her for wasn't even adultery... Bobby was long dead before the Kettleblacks even showed up.

Yeah, this is completely fair.

I'm really happy with the changes they've made to the books so far. Gave Sansa a more active role, gave Brienne something meaningful to do, got Tyrion to Dany cleanly and without dragging it out, and gave Jaime and Bronn something more important to do.
