[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

No, actually. There are even movies that are not even worth a torrent. The time and trouble it takes to steal something means it has value. Otherwise you wouldn't be stealing it.
I have Netflix and sometimes go several months without even using it, which balances my guilt a little for "legally obtaining" stuff.

My point wasn't that the movie's scores were wrong, but that even though they were low scoring movies, the chances that you liked more than one of them (if not all of them) are pretty damned good. So to completely skip a movie that has a 30% rating - even though the VIEWER'S ratings are 66% - is just silly.

No it wasn't.

That's the point of my comment. I shouldn't have to spell out to you. ;)

Speaking of movies that are great...it's not this one. It's not even good. It's exactly what you'd expect from a movie from Michael Bay's production company: a shallow, badly acted, poorly written film that wastes too much time even getting to the point. The first actual time travel? Almost halfway into the movie. Marty McFly's mother had already molested him several times by that same point. Worse, once they introduce the time travel, it's all quick and choppy like a montage. They try to do homages to Back to the Future and Groundhog Day and it's just a mess.

And of course, being a time travel movie, there are all sorts of questions that I was asking myself. Like why would they mention Primer - arguably the best example of the concept of time travel done the most realistically - when they don't even follow the same rules? Why aren't there multiple versions of themselves hopping back in time (like the Groundhog Day sequence of trying to same thing over and over for "hilarious" results).

Naturally, too, being a teen movie, it's all about pranks and doing silly stuff. It's like Chronicle, except a lot less focused and character driven. There's one point in the movie where they jump back several months to go to a big concert festival. And that of all times is where the movie decides to finally slow down and focus primarily on that. Even though it's really not all that essential.

Really, all the build up to the movie comes to a head with the last 20 minutes, where were admittedly marginally interesting. It didn't help that the reason for this last jump was telegraphed from the very beginning.

Sooooo...yeah. I wouldn't waste my time on it if I were you. There are far better time travel movies to watch instead of this.

Noah was a visually stunning take on the old bible tale. The visuals in the creation story are worth the price of admission.

I watched Knights of Badassdom. You know, that horror/comedy about the larpers that actually summon a real demon into their larp? Peter Dinklage is in it...

Yeah, it was awful. I didn't even watch the last 30 minutes of it.

I managed to sit through the whole thing. It's like they wanted it to be bad on purpose, but then forgot and ended up making it worse on accident.

e: Also, why is Dinklage so fucking terrible in anything that's not Game of Thrones?

AND he's in the new Adam Sandler movie.

For what little he had to work with, I didn't think he was terrible in X-Men Days of Future Past.

Man with the Iron Fists?
In that movie, Russell Crowe was paid entirely with "being allowed to seriously fucking offensive on film." Seriously, Bautista was basically the best part of the movie in terms of being interesting and doing his character well. That tells you exactly what kind of movie you're dealing with.

List of Movies Russell Crowe has done since his Oscar year with my brief impressions.

2014 The Water Diviner - Haven't watched it. He directs this one too. Heard solid reviews.

2014 Noah - Cinematography was great, storyline was overly long, bland and overall I found myself wanting to be anywhere else except watching this movie.

2014 Winter's Tale - I lost interest 30 minutes into this movie. This was horrible! Why are you doing this to me Russell? What is shit.

2013 Man of Steel - I don't like superman much but this movie was excellent and I though Russell Crowe did a great job as Superman's dad.

2013 Broken City - Kind-of like State of Play but Mark Walburg... eh. It was OK but honestly, I got what I expect, a 2 day old donut.

2012 Les Misérables - Hate movies where people sing and sorry Russell... you can't fucken sing.

2012 The Man with the Iron Fists - Amazing cinematography but the script was PURE SHIT. He did it for his friend RZA but man... the fuck was this shit? Some combat scenes were cool though.

2010 The Next Three Days - Don't like Elizabeth Banks much and she also looks 20 years younger than him but overall, really good movie, kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

2010 Robin Hood - First half was good for me but the 2nd half was sad ball sacks everywhere. That beach battle? Seriously, this was bad. What happened to you Ridley?

2009 State of Play - Surprisingly solid movie. Most probably helped Ben Affleck relaunch his career.

2009 Tenderness - This was bad movie and plays a small role. No idea WTF he was doing here.

2008 Body of Lies - Overall well done, interesting movie. Leonardo was really good. His first real support role since his Oscar year.

2007 American Gangster - It was good but not great. Not a huge Denzel fan, he's done this same role so many times it got old to me, even in 2007. MAH NIGGA!

2007 3:10 to Yuma - Probably one of my favorite westerns. It was well really well done. Solid acting all around.

2006 A Good Year - His first really shitty movie. It was painful to watch.

2005 Cinderella Man - One of my favorite movies of all time. Ran a little long though. The scene where he gets a second shot as well as the scene where his mouth piece gets knocked down make me cry inside in happiness. Amazing acting.

2003 Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World - Originally, I felt it was OK but on later viewings thought it was a great movie.

2001 A Beautiful Mind - Fantastic, immersive and great music score.

Love the actor but I've long accepted that the guy can't choose movies worth a damn.

EDIT: Scratch that; I don't care. Can we not this in this thread? Take it to PMs.

I haven't watched any movies since Mad Max and I need to watch something else so that I can enjoy Mad Max again all the fresher.
