Happens a bit with reposts, as this one was. In user sub, people who don't know it's a repost upvote it to front page. The usual imgur pseudocelebrities show up and point out it's a repost, and the downvoting commences.. so the author deletes the post to prevent further downvoting to lose the points they got.
The REALLY cynical ones will often post the same thing over and over again, deleting it again and again, each time as the downvotes start.
Hey, I'll admit that I get a little hurt when people click that "disagree" button.DISAGREE!
...it's such a shame when people can't admit they're wrong.

I have to assume that some of these are "revenge" accounts. I have a hard time imagining a woman wanting to pretend to be a "goopy slug". But I can easily believe an immature angry ex making that kind of account.
