[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

Watched Grace and Frankie on Netflix. Not a bad show. It takes a few episodes for the show to find its footing. However, watching it made me feel extremely old based on how old all the adult actors I used to watch are now senior citizen actors. Martin Sheen needs to get a set of properly fitting dentures. What the hell happened to Craig T Nelson? He looks like life has been rough for him.

Been gorging on this short season of Louie. It's still beyond incredible. His relationship with Pam is my favorite onscreen relationship ever.

Midway through season 6 of Scrubs at this point. Once again starting to lose me a bit, Nurse Shirley just completely ruins a certain arc. JD is full on Flanderized. One thing I will note, it's a good thing this show wasn't made today. It would be crucified by certain parts of the Internet (you know the parts) instead of beloved.

It takes quality dips somewhere in season 4 and then again in season 6, but after each one it comes back strong.

Season 7 is rough too, thanks to the short run and writer's strike. 8 is all wins, though.

Just consider the last season a fan fiction spin off :p It's not bad, but the end of the penultimate season is a much better ending point for the series.

s9 gets a lot of crap, but I agree, it's really not that bad. Had it been a true spinoff and not labeled as s9 I think it would have been received better by the fans.

I didn't mind 7's content, but yeah, it's way too short. That writer's strike did a lot of damage. Still pissed about Pushing Daisies and what ended up happening to Battlestar Galactica that probably wouldn't have happened if they hadn't needed a mid-season stop-gap ... which wouldn't have been an issue if Sci-Fi hadn't been doing stupid half-seasons.

I will probably hate that BSG ending for years.

It hurt a lot of shows. Heroes was terrible after the first season thanks to it.

Steven Universe: It's Steven Bomb 2.0 this week, so 5 more new episodes before another hiatus. And we get a new intro this week since everyone has their new costumes... Neat.

So day 1 is Sworn to the Sword and HOLY HELL RIGHT IN THE FEELS.

Also... how fucking irresponsible was it for Pearl to tell Connie some of that stuff? Connie's human. She gets hurt, it's for keeps unless the Gems can fix her.

Watched the first two episodes of Halt and Catch Fire.

I wasn't sure what I'd think, but I ended up really liking the show. First season's on Netflix, second is airing right now.

I wonder if this is setting the tone for the week.

Pearl has an unhealthy obsession/unrequited love. She knew for Connie it's for keeps, since she stressed the willingness to die. It just didn't seem to make a difference to her because she was in her knighthood fervor. In any case, Steven got her to come around.

Yeah that was like a dagger of emotion right there.

And yes incredibly so, but I let it slide because her massive relation to Connie's urge to protect Steven triggered her "I miss Rose" mode causing her to go bananas again. However I feel even if Pearl WASN'T demimortal she would have the same mentality, as Garnet said she put Rose above all else.

ALSO- there was a symbol of four diamonds in the background...meaning there was a fourth to the "Great Diamond Authority"- ROSE QUARTZ=PINK DIAMOND CONFIRMED!

Phineas and Ferb Season Finale

Damn good way to end it, and I loved the hokey time-loop physics. Now all we have to do is wait for Doof 101 to get greenlit which should TOTALLY be a series.

Man, Steven Universe isn't fucking around this week.

Confirmed what the kindergarten does, although not exactly what Peridot is up to anymore. Not to mention why Amethyst feels like shit sometimes--she knows that for her to be born, a part of Earth had to rot away.

Yeah, not to mention the...
horrifying symbolism of what the clusters entailed. I don't need to explain what its for right? 'Cause that...that's some fucked up shit.

Didn't Peridot mention something about looking for "the" Cluster before? Did she come to get a single, specific bunch of Gem fragments that actually came out RIGHT? Or maybe the shards of someone important?

Yeah, that bugged me too. Cluster COULD be the plural version of all the fusion experiments, but that is a stretch. Or it could've been the name of that one impained hybrid that made Garnet so horrified/repulsed that she almost split in two(literally). Time will tell.

I don't think the mess of limbs was Peridot's ultimate goal. From those, she discovered something she needed for a greater purpose. If the limbs meant anything to her, she'd have taken them with her. What she took from that site was knowledge. Not looking forward to seeing what she does with it.

Want to read a new post not about Steven Universe? TOO BAD!

Gotta love jealous Pearl, ALSO loved that real-talk between Greg and Rose. And Glad to see the deified former leader of our heroes have actual flaws.

And aside from the Rinaldo episode, these have all been excellent.

Lots of great stuff this episode. More hints that Connie's parents suck, Stevonnie cameo, new young Greg story, Pearl being a jealous little shit again, Greg/Rose, and I like Connie and Greg having a connection too.

Really just a jam-packed episode tonight. Something I've noticed--the gems only change their form when damaged, which suggests that something bad happened between the flashback episodes and the first episode of the show.

I just noticed, when Steven withheld his high-five when they said "Human Beings." That's gonna turn into something.
Not just that ...

He was clutching his belly, where his gemstone is. He's known for a while that there's never been anything like him in the history of gems and humans, but I think we just saw the start of him feeling that knowledge and what it means. Yeah, we haven't seen the last of that.

I pondered whether this Steven Bomb would end with a plot episode or a really silly episode, and damn them if they didn't manage to do both at once.

Jasper coming out of the fusion mental area and just saying "You" over and over was great. Obviously the Lapis/Jasper stuff was surreal and creepy ... but the dream stuff was surreal and hilarious. At first I felt bad for Pearl that she was dreaming of her and Rose. Then "Rose" turned to face her. I usually don't like when Amethyst gets on Pearl's ass about this stuff, but I laughed this time.

I'm not surprised seeing the gems rundown. Though they may not need sleep, they certainly can't stay in constant action and attention at all times, otherwise Peridot would've reached the Kindergarten a while ago.

This thread should stay pretty clean of Steven Universe ... until next month. Yup, another week of episodes in July!

GRAH I WANT IT NOW- nah I'm playing, I got other stuff. READ A BOOK WHINERS!
I like to think the Gems were legitimately tired, I'd like to think their mental taxation on looking for Malachite caused them to lose "harmony" making them act MODERATELY buggy. Not cracked gem Amethyst buggy, but buggy. Think of it as having a computer on for WAY too long(and my computer program theory shall stand for ALL time)! Sometimes you gotta hit the shut down switch.

And yeah I loved everything in the dream realm, to Steven's trippy sitcom , to Pearl's...completely appropriate dream, to the absolute horror that was the domain of Malachite.

And what's next week oh yeah- REGULAR SHOW! Two of the eps of "dump" in the title, while one of them involves a double date that doesn't go well. PREPARRRRRRRRRRRRRE YOUR FANXIETY!

Speaking of which ...

That realm seems to have morphed now, with the division between Lapis and Jasper shedding away. They're not just one in body anymore, but in mind, the way Garnet normally is, except it's really fucked up. No knowing what kind of personality that combination will manifest, between Jasper's aggression and the many psychological issues Lapis has from being trapped in that mirror for thousands of years. Worse, if the gems were able to split that fusion, it might end up with a weird kind of Stockholm Syndrome where Lapis wants to be fused again.[/quote]

I don't see this leading anywhere good.
