There was a video from Redletter media about how they think that Adam Sandler movies are intentionally cheap so as much of the budget as possible can go to Sandler and his friends. Jack and Jill was their main example of it, with it looking like a horribly cheap movie, but having a budget of $80 million.
Lionsgate is looking to adapt Naruto as a live-action film.

I know they're still trying to get an American Akira film off the ground, but everything I've heard about it sounds awful. At least we dodged a bullet when it came to them trying to make Death Note. I have a copy of the script for that and, if it had ended up being made, it would have completely missed the point of the series.
You know anime I think would have the best chance if they ever attempted an American movie adaptation? Lupin III.
I mean, Japan can barely make live-action anime/manga adaptations work, expecting Hollywood to get it right would be bonkers.
Yeah, there is that. I know there's been some positive buzz about the Japanese live-action Attack on Titan film, but we'll see how that one turns out.
Actually, in terms of Japanese live-action adaptations, I kind of liked the Death Note two-parter, partially because I prefer Light Yagami descending into madness over time rather than just jumping into the crazy right off the bat.
Dragonball Evolution is the worst thing western civilization has done to Japan since Hiroshima.

Spade hasn't done much 'Starring Role' stuff on TV, but he's pretty much had a job as the B attraction for a long time. And probably will for awhile, he's a solid TV sidekick/character actor.
There are two Attack on Titan live-action films. One debuts I think today, the other in September, and together should cover season 1 of the anime. Supposedly they're getting limited theatrical release in the U.S. to capitalize on the anime's popularity here. Other countries it might get a wider release, no idea. Foreign language films don't tend to go wide, at least in the U.S.
A lot of the problems he's faced in his career stem from that fact that he was always the straight man to Chris Farley... and then Farley OD'ed and suddenly he was the straight man to no one. He's always had to struggle to get people to see what he can do on his own. Now on TV? He's done well. Several starring, reoccurring roles. But movies have always been a problem because no one is quite sure what to do with him.
Well, the Stooges did it when Curly died, but they were sort of a Blue Man Group of comedy.

Teller is by far the better magician, so probably.
Maybe, but it's not going to be like it was with Penn Jillette. That's sort of the issue here: David Spade is a great comedian and a decent actor, but he's not getting his due because he was trapped in the whole "surviving part of a duo" thing. It doesn't matter how good he is because everyone THINKS he needed the other guy.
What? He was part of the main cast in two long-running sitcoms over the last 20 years, ending in like 2013 or so. Dude's been doing just fine.

I already mentioned his TV work, but his movie work is inextricably tied to Happy Madison. He's literally ONLY getting movie roles because of Adam Sandler. Happy Madison has produced basically every movie he's been in.
The thing is though, does he only get those roles, or only take those roles? It's hard to be so matter of fact when it comes to that kind of thing. If he doesn't need to try for other, non-Happy Madison movies, maybe he just doesn't. If I could earn a comfortable living shooting a movie or two a year with a bunch of my friends, I don't know that I'd be hitting the pavement looking for other stuff.

Yes. They usually have a private premier for the cast and crew, so they can sincerely talk up the movie to the press.
Yeah my uncle's partner does payroll work for various movies, and he's mentioned "family screeners" or something like that before, where cast/crew/family can see the movie before the red carpet premieres.
