Games on SALE!

Humble Bundle's latest bundle is Total War. I seem to recall some people on here are fans of the series, so they can hype it better than I could.
Some are great games, but half the bundle is either for the P2W offerings, the mediocre versions, or a bunch of unnecessary DLC.
Medieval II is still great , but it's an oldie. Shogun is also a great game, but it's even older (2000). Viking...AFAIK, it's not a TW game. Arena....you want to skip Arena. Seriously. Eww. Including a Total War: Warhammer campaign map is nice ,but since the game itself isn't included, it makes very little sense. Total War: Battles: Kingdom is an abomination mobile-and-pc-P2W-game that isn't even good at what it wants to do (which is not the part I like anyway). Medieval: Total War is a pretty nice game for its age - do you see a red line through this commentary? Anyway, it's from 2002. Empire's considered by some to be the best, by some amongst the worst of the Total War offerings. I like it, but I'm weird. Anyway, it's at least a full game with all its DLC - which aren't included for most other games here. A 66% off coupon for Attila is ridiculous - it's been on at -50% on Steam already and will probably be 66% off in the coming winter sale. Total War: Rome 2 is relatively recent, is pretty nice, and it also includes all DLC. If you don't have Rome 2 yet and like TW, it may be worth paying $15 just for this game. Not my favorite TW game, but it's one of the last and including it completely is pretty nice.

All in all, if you're a TW fan, you probably already own most of this bundle. If you're not...Eh, paying $15 for most of the games (though missing Shogun 2 and Attila, two of the three latest editions, and Napoleon, which some people really liked and others hated but was pretty much the epitome of a specific type of TW game, and also fairly recent) can be worth it to give it a try... But this isn't really a convincing bundle, to me. We'll have to wait and see what "other games" are added. If it's just Napoleon, as I expect, it's a definite no. If it also includes Shogun 2 with DLC, the value of the pack goes up quite considerably.

If you find yourself enjoying it, I HIGHLY recommend Outlast. It started as a mod for Amnesia, grew into its own game, and I personally found the modern day setting a lot more horrifying.
+1. I'd also recommend the Penumbra games, which are partly better and partly worse, but overall worth going through.

Penumbra: Black Plague would be scarier if you couldn't kill the dogs by just repeatedly throwing a barrel into them (and this is much easier than using the dynamite they give you to kill them instead).

Penumbra: Overture is plenty scary because there is basically nothing you can do to the monsters.

Penumbra 3 is Portal, but less fun.

Just a reminder: the GOG.com Pinata sale is in its last 12 hours. I got some really nice games, $20 worth and $30 worth, for $3 each - but it's luck of the draw, of course. Variety is pretty good; if you're looking for a new indie to try out it's worth it :)

A friend of mine just pointed out this site to me. Basically, it collects all the deals from the various deal sites like Bundle Stars, GMG, Steam itself, etc. Even Amazon sales.

Speaking of which, Amazon has a huge-ass sale on the X-Com games right now. Both Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within are only $6 a piece.

Bought a Playstation TV for 40 bucks today. It doesn't play all Vita and PSP games, but it plays the ones I want to play that it's totally worth it.

It's basically a glorified accessory to make Persona 4: The Golden and Final Fantasy: Crisis Core playable in the eyes of a lot of people. They aren't incorrect.

Debating taking advantage of the $10 offer (until 11:59 PDT Mon night) for each of the first two StarCraft II games. Hmm...

Well, I'm a fan of them, but I'd say they're worth it. I only ever play single-player, but the two together are somewhere around 50-60 hours of gameplay, so if you like RTS, sure.

Dying Light is 50% off on steam right now. It's often described as "Dead Island done right." 30 bucks still seems steep to me, but a buddy of mine is all gung ho to play it so I guess I'm bending my $20 rule.
