[MLB] 2023 Major League Baseball Season (MLB Thread)

And I believe they even called Utley out, even though neither he nor the bag were ever tagged.

The umpire made the wrong call every which way on that play, I think.

I think we have definite proof that Obama is either a foreigner or an alien. Sending a message of support from WHITE SOX FANS to the Cubs? @HowDroll can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the height of Chicago baseball blasphemy?

I find it somewhat ironic that this thread was stuck between the "Minor Rant" and "EPIC Win" threads on my New Posts list.

It would be somewhat sweet if the Mets were the Cubs' NLCS opponent, but they match up better with them than the Dodgers.

They're a subset of Leafs fans. The ones that don't pay attention until the Leafs are already out of a playoff spot.

I guess it makes sense you need to talk shit about other team's fans, not like you have anything to talk about your own team.

No, they're in second when it comes to the Cubs, sorry.

So - Royals/Blue Jays in the ALCS. Will they play games three and four at Exhibition Stadium, for old time's sake?

That would be awesome especially now that Octobers are warm (ish) here

Alas, we tore that monster down (and put up a parking lot)

All five of the remaining teams have won the World Series.

Four of them won their last one within an eight-year stretch, starting 30 years ago.

One of them won their last one in a year ending with an "08".

The Blue Jays won their last World Series the night I got married.
The Mets won their last World Series my second year in college.
The Royals won their last World Series my first semester in college.

The Cubs won their last series... uh, well, I think my maternal grandfather was two years old at the time.

And there it is. Combination of the Royals able to do no wrong & the Mets couldn't get anything right. Congratulations to the Royals!!

My Dad is from KC, & a lot of his family still lives there. Plus my best friend moved back there a few years back. Since it can't be my Reds (this year) this will do quite nicely.

Too many articles to link here, but the way the Washington Post tells it, the hiring of Dusty Baker was multiple levels of epic fail. Apparently Bud Black was the first choice, and was told the job was his. Then he got the terms from the Lerner family. Exit Bud Black.

I predict Harper is going to be eating a lot of dirt, especially on road trips, as other managers take Dusty's tactic of preemptive beanballs.
